Texas has same record and beat them head to head. Gumps should be out

One can argue that point and it is certainly a valid one to argue and I also wouldn’t have any problem at all going that route, but looking at Bama’s 1 loss which was to begin the year to a 1 loss 3rd ranked Texas team and Texas’s loss to a 2 loss Oklahoma team that lost to a 4 loss Okie State and a 4 loss Kansas, Bama‘a loss just looks a lot better. Plus, Bama beat the undefeated number 1 team for the right to get in while Texas only had to beat a 3 (now 4) loss team in OK State. Like I said, I can see both sides of the coin and would have had no gripes with either choice. FSU is the only one that I feel truly got hosed.

Same. Their coach doesnt seem like a Dbag either...UM, Bama, UGA coaches are definitely dbag material. Not sure about Texas guy...but they are garbage for pretending that they're actually UT. Tennessee was a university before texas was even a state so...

Totally. While I don’t think FSU is as good as the other 4, what more can you possibly do to be deserving of a shot? They beat everyone they faced so it’s definitely a bad beat for them.
For me it just goes back to what is the actual standard.

Is it the "best" teams?
or
is it the most "deserving" teams.

unfortunately the committee just flip flops between the two. not holding a consistent standard.

FSU against any other teams that made it would get smoked like TCU vs Georgia. they may have earned it, but they are certainly not one of the best teams.

The human brain has to adapt to deal with downturns. Luckily for us Gator fans, this is about what we expected.

I for one am enjoying FL's little coaching trip through the woods to Grandma's house ... except I'd like it to be more nightmare like ours. I'd really love to see GA and Bama have extended time in coaching hell. AR is living the "dream" right now, and TAMU might be fun to watch ... it's gonna be costly for them in any case - ATM might be the real keyword. I've got real questions about the recycled coaches that Auburn and AR went for - time will tell, but both of them have the established potential to destroy themselves. The one that might work out (and I really hate to think so) is LSU.

Apparently the conference chiefs are begging congress to write some NIL laws since the SC decision unleashed anarchy in the NCAA world. NIL is a smoldering bonfire just waiting for the bigtime, and before it's over some coaches will be consumed in the flames ... either because they participated or because they couldn't figure out how to participate without getting consumed.

Poaching "transfers" with NIL deals will destroy coaches and what's left of amateur college sports if somebody doesn't get it under control soon. Also nobody wants to admit that a new recruit right out of HS with not a single play in a college game has absolutely no established collegiate record for an NIL deal ... but the guys who rank recruits could be the agents who really rake in the NIL money. By comparison that has the Albert Means debacle looking potentially like a gnat crawling up an elephant's leg with rape on its mind as perspective.

Maybe, but remember Bobby Bowden got FSU into the ACC for a reason; he just didn't expect Clemson and sometimes Miami to rise up. ACC football in other respects is just a small step up from the AAC ... doesn't deserve respect without some serious year in year out strength and parity across the conference.

I think this is the perfect way to end the 4 team playoff and usher in the 12 team bracket. Surely there won't be so much grumbling about that 13th ranked team being left out or the fact the same 3-4 teams will be in the semi-finals and championship game every year.

You can't really make a strong argument for a conference champion without looking at the conference strength and parity. TX and OK were the cream of the crop and then there is generally a big gap. The big10 isn't much better - it all goes downhill pretty quick most years after tOSU and maybe MI. Bama and GA may be the SEC "giants" right now, but slack off and there are half a dozen other SEC teams that can make them pay.

The TX university just can't help itself. They copied the interlocked UT until both teams gave that up, and don't have the decency as historical losers to defer to their betters and go with "TU" ... without Tennesseans, TX would be a Mexican state.
