Be a real injustice to keep these guys out just because they were unfortunate enough to lose their starting QB.

Backup has a month to prepare. They’ve earned their shot.
This. They lost their starting QB and still won. Then they lost their backup and still won. A lot of teams would have folded and settled for a less achievement but they but they just kept winning. How do you punish that whole team including that defense when they have just continued to win games. Putting a 1 loss team in the CFP over FSU would be a huge slap in the face to FSU and the entire playoff system.

Ya know, it's pretty wild that a UGA/Bama fan would have this much orange in his house. It's almost like I'm not one.

Texas over Bama, 100%. No argument.

Bama over UGA, 100%. No argument.

The only question is whether FSU gets screwed because their QB is hurt, or whatever other excuse the committee can conjure. I remember when the question used to be about whether an undefeated AAC team deserved to be in. The Alabama mob is so strong that now serious people are really talking themselves into an undefeated ACC powerhouse being left out.

The only other wildcard (which I really can’t imagine, but I guess could maybe be possible) would be the committee punishing Michigan for cheating and leaving them out.

This is a line of scrimmage league. Last night shows how you have to have both sides be elite on the line. We have to relentlessly recruit that including any viable transfer options .

Do you want to know what the committee’s biggest problem is today? It’s their comments from prior years on getting teams in.

Based on things they’ve said and done in recent history, Georgia is out (lack conference championship), Florida State is in (undefeated conference championship, and Texas is in (one loss conference champ with a head to head win on the road against the other contender).

I also think there are plenty on the committee that want to shut the SEC out. I think they’re sick of our conference and are looking for a reason like this to sit us down in the corner for a minute. To be honest, they have the perfect argument this year. Our conference was absolute crap in non-conference games this year.

There is also a precedent for a back up quarterback, and third string quarterback, to win a national championship. Ohio State did it with an elite defense in a great running game.

That’s a good point. What is the SEC’s best OOC win all year? Mizzou over K-State on a last second FG?

So this basically boils down to whether or not the committee uses their written in, injured player clause to screw an undefeated power five team?
FSU will have their QB back by the championship game. They would be stronger than they were when they won their conf champ game.

How huge is scheduling Bama for Texas this year?

You know their fans hated it before the season, but that win is the only reason they have a shot at the playoff. If Bama’s loss was to anyone else, it wouldn’t even be a debate. Bama would be in over Texas after beating UGA.

Can’t wait for noon.
Yeah, Bama people complaining and saying nobody will ever schedule a hard non-con game anymore… but really the take-away is just that those games can be high stakes. It’s the reason that Texas is going to make the playoff. Bama just lost and is crying about it. (Hate to see it, by the way.)

will be interesting to see how our class ends up for 2024 we can't seem to close on anyone here at the end. Hoping we make some serious moves in the portal-- so far crickets except for two meh offers extended... maybe we are getting some covid seniors back?

Texas lost to Oklahoma, who lost to Oklahoma St, that lost to South Alabama

Sorry……had to go down that rabbit hole;)
That's why I added "these are the 3 teams they're considering" to keep it within a bottle of reasonableness.

I get the transitive property is far from perfect in sports, but in this case it's tied up with a neat little bow.

They got the short end of the stick. You can’t keep them ahead of Bama and you can’t leapfrog Bama from #8 to #4 when one of those teams is Texas (who beat Bama by 10 @ Bama) and the other is FSU (an undefeated P5 conference champ who’s 3-0 vs top 25).
It's about time that happened to them.

What? Bama beat them - each has 1 loss...this seems obvious but no way UGA can be ahead.

Texas beat Bama - each has 1 loss (??)

Texas has a CFP contender win. Bama has a CFP contender win. UGA has...?
I just dont see the #1 team dropping >3 spots and I dont see the #8 team rising 4 spots in any real scenario
