What's beautiful for all of us outside that protected circle, ONE of them has to put their head in the blocks. Refs in the SEC Championship Game were in uncharted territory and had to call actual penalties...even tho some of those had Sankey's favorite tint of crimson favoritism to the uneducated observer. But if FSU and/or Texas get bumped to get the "four best teams" in the playoffs, too many powerful enemies will be empowered. Lot of money and lot of congressional donors. :cool:

If they get in it confirms that the sport is pro wrestling with a football.

The people at the top of the sport, and especially the people at the top of our conference, do everything for money. Every single thing is about maximizing revenue and bringing in more money. Everything about the sport, every decision that is made -- big and small, is to drive dollars.

And they would have us believe that that motivator somehow stops at the officiating level.

Right.

The big problem with that is it appears you are playing the head to head card with TX Bama but not Bama GA.

I think the NCAA is lucky, closing out this era with a bunch of turmoil just cements the validity of going to 12 teams. Can argue about seeding in the future, but not a shot at the ring for the BEST 4 teams getting in. Arguing over who should be 12th will not be all that contentious.

And one of the age-old debates on this board hovers around fondness for the old bowl system, where certain favorites were anointed preseason, and writers wrote and voters voted that narrative to a championship game where conference obligations mostly overrode vs BCS where they TRIED to put the two best teams in said championship game vs the soon to be departed FOUR best teams. Bluehair logic centered around the old true way made regular season games paramount. Now ask any reasonable football fan HOW important that Texas/Bama early season game was in retrospect. ;) Flash forward to next season...lose that one game (maybe two) at your own peril.

If there were ever a year for the committee to do their "four best teams, but we can't tell you why" it would be the year before they go to a 12-team playoff. They'll just shrug it off as "we hear everyone's points, that's the problem with a limited playoff, we're looking forward to next year"

100% agree. If we know it, and many of us commented on here about it throughout the season, rest assured most of the analysts knew it around the country and most said it. Most of them have been waiting for this day to legitimately take down Sanktimonious and Satan.

Texas deserves the spot. They beat the SEC champ at their house by 10. All the SEC did was prove they were not as good as they have been. Everybody saw how Bama got lucky against Auburn. Everybody knows how the officials protect Bama and UGA. These are not secrets.

It is also delusional to assume the committee would take Bama over a 13-0 FSU that has the best D in the country. It is a team game.

Why do you want the SEC to get in over other teams who did it right on the field? Why do you want Bama and UGA to dominate year after year? If you are a Vol fan you should want their B-Ham hierarchy for things to fail in spectacular fashion. It's time for clean living to win. It's time for the playing field to be level.

No chance. Texas and Bama have better resumes and Bama beat them.

Anyone thinking UGA makes it in is silly. Not directed at you but their schedule kills them now.

No surprise PFF grades Wright as our best player on offense, and only player 90+. Then Sampson, Milton, BRU, Squirrel. The further down you go the more OL you see.

on defense -- Pearce, Hadden, McColough, Josephs only players 80+.

Saying that , I can't believe how many SEC flag waivers
I have seen on VolNation in the last couple of days ....

Every forum except for Lady Vols only thing their worried about is when RJ comes back...and not firing KH..😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

How huge is scheduling Bama for Texas this year?

You know their fans hated it before the season, but that win is the only reason they have a shot at the playoff. If Bama’s loss was to anyone else, it wouldn’t even be a debate. Bama would be in over Texas after beating UGA.

Can’t wait for noon.

I could not stomach watching either of those games last night. You could offer both of those games to me in the middle of June and I’d still say no
