Recruiting Football Talk VII

Honestly I dont see how UGA drops out of the top 4 after losing by 3 to a top 10 team. I feel like they will drop to 3 and the top 7 looks like:
1. michigan
2. Washington
3. UGA
4. fsu
5. Texas
6. Bama
7. OSU
It just doesn’t make a bit of sense to have UGA over Bama. Zero. They have the same record, with Bama having a much harder SOS, and Bama has the head to head win. If you really wanted to get technical with it even the advanced stats like FPI agree. If UGA still ended up above Bama, then just burn the whole system to the ground because it’s beyond flawed.

So Alabama has the better win, but also the worst loss between them and Georgia.

But Texas has the worst loss and the second best win.

I got no idea.

Texas beat Bama head to head. That’s all it boils down to. Or should. You can’t leave an undefeated power 5 champion out. That would be absurd. If Bama gets in, there’s clear bias there and it’s a problem

Man after watching Bama’s DB’s in that game (including the guy who wasn’t a starter) All I can say is “it must be nice”. Our DB’s aren’t even in the same galaxy talent wise. I think Gibson and Matthews are up there talent wise but alas they were true freshman. I am still mad Martinez didn’t get them more snaps against Vandy when it was obviously a blowout.

Agreed the this is a TX v. Bama discussion. FSU should basically get a automatic bid being undefeated P5 Champ. Committee also has an out for putting FSU in over Bama...FSU still won with 3rd-String QB. Therefore the Committee assumes FSU would have won more convincingly had Rodemaker played.

I feel like this weekend's games made me realize we have a decent gap to close to get to championship level. We have decent talent. But our depth is lacking in alot of areas to compete at the level needed. Just a stark difference it looks like.

Talent isn’t the problem. It wasn’t the problem at MIZZOU, for example.

We don’t have heart. We don’t grind out wins. No iron will. That comes from the coach. We can change players but we’ll get same result until that gets fixed.

Bowl projections are all over the place. I have also seen overnight articles putting us in Gator vs ND, or Reliaquest vs Northwestern or Wisky

You can't leave out the undefeated conference champions. So Michigan, Washington, and FSU will be in. Yes, FSU is overrated, but they're an undefeated Power 5 conference champion. They're in. Last spot goes to either Texas or Bama, and Texas deserves it for the head-to-head win in Tuscaloosa. This whole argument that games at the end of the season mean more than games at the beginning of the season, then why have a damn season?? Texas won the head-to-head and should be in.

And championships don't carry over to the next season, so people saying Georgia should "get to defend their championship" are being purposely dumb. Football is season to season. There is no carryover.
Here’s the best part. They can’t say “eyeball test” with Bama because Texas has been absolutely dominant at the end of the season and would’ve probably been ranked 6th if they didn’t play games without their starting qb. The argument of who had the better win also fails Bama because Texas won by two scores on the road against Bama vs a neutral site win against GA. Bama will be ranked ahead of Georgia in the final poll. That in itself makes the Texas win better.

This is the year for 12 teams……BUT since it’s not and you have three power 5 undefeated teams they have to be in.

It simply leaves three 12-1 teams and two are conference champs that played each other with one winning by 10 on the road.

Anything other than Texas over Bama and UGA will be incorrect.

I could see them however putting UGA in over both of them and only dropping them to 4th.
Seems so simple but we all know exactly what will happen.

My favorite part was when Jerry Palm said "I know it seems odd not to have an SEC team in the CFP, but being in the SEC is not criteria." That was good and I hope someone reads it to the gumps and the leg humpers.
This is what I hope (although I think Florida State might be 4). This is what I fear:

Michigan
Washington
Georgia
Alabama
Florida State
Texas
Ohio State

Does he make that decision?
