We have a real problem if Herring is still in the two deep next year. If Carter, Telander, and Smtih aren’t ready, then you have to take another portal LB and BJM needs to step up his evaluations.
i think if a lber is beating down the doors to come you go for it. as difficult as it's been for us to find good depth in portal, and now not getting what we wanted in secondary and dl, you have to reserve those spots for that ol, and wr.

Johnson always had good instincts which made up for his lack of speed. Herring lacks the instincts and speed.
Exactly, just watching its pretty easy to tell if a kid is going to be a player or not.
Carter made freshman mistakes but looks like he belonged, same thing for Telander. Josephs hasn't produced as much but his speed looks like he belongs, same thing with Gibson. Herring just looks like a fish out of water the whole time he's put on the field.

We need a portal linebacker for sure, but to me the most important pieces in the 25 class are a highly rated corner and a highly rates linebacker. Whatever money Spyre has to spend on this next class, I hope th biggest go to those two spots.

I don't think the players are the problem. It is the boring unimaginative coaching.
Different game...

The video game offenses haven't worked in NFL for an extended amount of time....

Chip Kelly had moderate success.... Kingsbury did for one season...

Joshua Josephs?

Big fan of his. If you watch the film he’s actually in the back field just as much as Pearce is, but I think he lacks the ability to plant his foot and change his direction, or something idk what it is.

That Eric Cain is full of crap man. He talks about Bird Dogs pants and I couldn’t peel them over my quads with a crowbar when I tried.

He’sa former college athlete. Tattoos would go on looser than Bird Dog pants for him 😂
Well..5’10 205 as a special teamer at CN. He’s gotta be pushing 260 now

November 28, 1929 - Comiskey Park, Chicago -

According to a story on the website goldenrankings.com Ernie Nevers of the Chicago Cardinals became the first professional football player to score six touchdowns in a single game. The story goes that it was a Thanksgiving Day game for the title of the “Chicago City Championship” as the Cardinals played their cross town rivals the Bears. Snow was falling on the Windy City that day but still 8,000 fans went to cheer the teams on at the field. Due to slippery field conditions the Cardinals abandoned their double-wing offense and instead decided to continually run Nevers right up the gut of the Bears defense. The strategy couldn’t have worked any better as Ernie Nevers scored all of the Cardinal points, including the extra points in the 40-6 drubbing of the Monsters of the Midway. The defense of the Redbirds did an amazing job of holding the Bears to only 6 points when they had the backfield of Joey Sternman, Paddy Driscoll and Red Grange!

Yeah that's why I said he hasn't produced the stats, but the kid looks like he belongs on an SEC field.

Agreed. Both Carter and Telander will be very good. I think Carter is more gifted than Telander but Telander is like an Aaron Beasley to me, he isn’t afraid of contact. Those two locking down the LB spot should be a good duo.

Pearce listed 6’5 242
Josephs 6’3 242
I think he’s saying Josephs’ frame limits him. Pearce played at 245-250 this year and he’s got plenty of room to add another 15-20 and still keep his speed. Josephs looks much more compact and pretty dang filled out. Still on the light side for an edge

I have high hopes for Smith too. People forget he broke Owen Pappoes tackling records, at the same HS, same division, same position. And he’s bigger. He’s gonna be a good one

i Can somewhat agree. The only issue with the nfl product is the “brotherhood” among coaches where there are quite a few retreads instead of trying something new. But overall, NFL > college on everyday of the week.

College can be more exciting, NFL is the better product

It will be interesting to see how long the dolphins offense can keep it up. Great scheme, but there’s a reason guys like Spags at KC can dominate them
