I thought this year would tell us a lot about JH. Are we catching up to GA and AL? Could we be as good or almost as good as last year? Obviously not.

I think we will always be in the conversation and fighting for a spot in the new 12 team playoffs. A 9 win team with the potential to win or lose two more games.

I think that is a good place to be in. The conference is only getting tougher with Oklahoma and Texas joining. I hope we compete for and win a championship, but its a high standard to expect. Though I do truly think Heupel can field a championship level offense. So we will always have some reason for optimism.

But I think its sad some fans can't find it in themselves to enjoy the football season unless they are promised a national championship.

It was a fluke last season and Hooker contributed to those 11 wins much more than Heup did. . Heup is probaly a 7 to 8 win coach long term going forward. He won big at UCF with Scott Frost’s players and he won 11 here with mostly Pruitt’s guys. He got worse at UCF after his first season.

This is just wrong. Nothing about last year was a fluke. With a good QB this year we are probably a one loss team right now.

I think it's sad some posters use strawman arguments to bash other posters. Nobody, NOBODY was expecting a national championship. However, EVERYONE was expecting to at least be competitive.

There was some amount of hyperbole in my comments, but the point was still the same in that some fans have unreasonably high expectations.

8-4 is a competitive team. Losing by a wide margin in conference stinks. But some take the scoreline too literally to mean that there is an insurmountable gap between where we are and who we want to be.

There is a bigger picture. And while, yes there needs to be inprovements made, its not as dismal as some on here are making it to be. History tells us Heupel will get his offense back on track under the next QB. I believe that Every QB under Heupel, outside of Milton, had 25+TDs with single digit interceptions.

This has to be one of the worst takes I've seen on here.

CJH will never win the east here
That's pretty obvious since this is the last year of division.

Cry babies you guys are.

Heupel. You brought Tennessee back from a bottom 5 sec team to a top 5 sec team. That's hard to do in this conference. I hope you just leave right after a really successful season. Make these fans really hurt.

As of next year college football becomes a playoff sport with them expanding it to 12 teams. Here's the reality, As long as Saban and Smart are at their respected schools, nobody is catching them in most years. They are simply recruiting in another league compared to everyone else. Our goal should be to reach that #3 team spot in the SEC. The #3 SEC team at 10-2 or 11-1 will make the playoffs in most years. That's where we should be heading.

CJH has the program going in the right direction, even if many here are suffering from alcohol related blindness and cant see it. For this season many, myself included, had high hopes that CJH would work a miracle with Milton. That didnt happen. The RB crew got better but the drop off in QB and WR (including injuries) was just too much to overcome. I'll save judgement for next year. If we see the same vanilla play calling with Nico then somethings up..

That being said, last years team, in my opinion, would have gone undefeated this year.

I don't think we have had a dismal season. 8-9 wins is pretty good in this conference.
It’s a letdown.. but it’s not Pruitt level .. the team got gutted with injuries this year, we had more depth but not in the right spots, QB play was disappointing.. we just need to suck it up and see what happens, but the sky hasn’t fallen

Check the standings, we’re not a top 5 sec team
