Torch it!

Jumbo Fisher is 8-13 on road while at Texas A&M...and 4 of the wins came during CoVid year..in 2020.....

When is the last time that ATM won a road game (not neutral site or bowl game) against a ranked opponent? I think it may have been the season opener against South Carolina in 2014. That’s a long time.

Jd and everyone else are still mesmerized by the talent that AM has. They think recruiting rankings correlate into wins. No matter how many times AM blows it and loses against lesser talent, they will always choose them because why wouldn’t they. How is anybody supposed to respect their recruiting rankings if all of their high rankings guys lose week after week. They need and want am to be good to make their site look good
The best team that TAMU has played is Bama and they are not the team they have been in the past 15 years. Their only other true road game was at Miami, who just lost to Georgia freaking Tech, and they lost by 2 scores. They have a pretty good defense, but so do we. They are playing with a backup QB who is not really all that mobile and we are very good along the defensive front. They only mustered 20 points vs. Bama last week and that was in their house. If our OL can give Joe any protection and the RB's can find a few good runs, we should be fine on offense. Our defense needs to have a very similar game plan to what they did vs. Scar. Man coverage on their WR's for the most part and put Max Johnson on his butt all afternoon. Create a couple turnovers and I see no reason why we can't win this game. We are coming off a bye and we are in Neyland. What is not to like about our chances?

waiting for Josh Pate's take here

anyone?

I suspect he has us as a loss. He's already said that ATM was Alabama's strongest/hardest test this side of the post-season, which tells me he thinks ATM is a better team than UT. If he changes course and calls UT a win here, he's giving the win to the crowd.

TAMU is not going to lose based on some history. We are going to have to beat them straight up. In the now.

No, but it does provide some predictive value. If a program doesn’t play well in a hostile environment, then there’s a good chance they won’t play well when they come to Neyland in front of a motivated crowd. Our team still has to take advantage of that weakness, but it’s not nothing.

Also, see us against Florida the last 30 years if you don’t believe history has any bearing on a matchup.

I don't believe history caused us not to win. I do believe the officials stopping every second half drive was the major cause.

Rewatching the USCj game. First drive, it looks like their plan was to force Milton to beat them with his arm. They were crowding the box and trying to short down the run. However, with our wide splits, we still ran all over them.

This is @ the snap. The play? Our long run to gash them and score.

Leading up to it? 7 in the box. What do we do? Pitch for about 12 yard pickup. Secondary was on island in the running game.

Leading up to that? 7 in the box. What'd we do? One of those hated screen passes you guys talk about (which is basically just an outside run) for about 12 yards. Secondary was on an island.

Before that? 7 in the box. So we dump it off, short pass for a first down. Secondary was on an island.

Moral of the story? Those wide splits open up so much for this offense. It's a much harder task for defenses than they usually face. The linebackers have to decide what they will line up to stop.

Rumor is that ATM's secondary is pretty suspect. Does the defense cheat to help them and put all their trust in the DL? Their DL is apparently pretty good. But good enough to shut down UT's run game alone? Do they cheat the defense to stop the run and put their suspect secondary in that much more pressure?

UT's pick-ur-poison strategy may be the thing that equalizes weaknesses, and strengthens equalities. Should be fun to watch!

Not sure how much predictive value it gives. That streak goes back through last year, when their offense was incredibly young and thus would be more affected by crowd noise and environment.

Hm interesting.

A&M losing 7 road games in a row, Neyland being arguably the most hostile environment in the country, Heup is undefeated after bye's, A&M hasn't had a bye/coming off a loss to bama and our defensive line being really good are very difficult for me to overlook.
These are 100% all the reasons we should win.

These are also all the reason's people will jump all over Heupel and scream he should be fired if we lose.

JD has us losing.

They have the most sacks total on the season but are still behind us on sacks per game. He doesn’t even mention or credit our d-line and ability to pressure the QB. Let Pearce start and run all over their o-line. I don’t think this one is close and we dominate them.

Only way we lose is if Joe and the receivers can't do anything and I wouldn't necessarily blame Heup for that. If they still can't hit any big pass plays whether it's Joe overthrowing, guys not separating or guys not catching the ball. We know how good the system is and if our current guys can't hit the layups where all of Heup's other teams have then they just aren't good enough.

Good thing Joe hit several last year. Squirrel and Ramel have found themselves wide open down the field plenty of time. They can do it.

I still wonder how different our year is if Keyton doesn't drop that ball against UVA. I can't help, but think they really set the tone for the offense in a bad way and then it just compounded from there. I feel like if we hit one of those early we will start to get rolling with those deep balls for the rest of the year.
