The Atlanta Braves

Medlen was so fun. 90 fastball, with plus plus change and lots of heart. I’d run him out there against anyone

Not sure “really high level” is what I’d use to describe it

“He’s running the offense how we are asking him.”

“We have to support Joe better, he’s doing his job.”

“Everybody needs to improve, not just Joe.”

Come on man

First one is most alarming. That is not the offense we saw last year. Let the man air it out, for better or worse, if you’re going to play him.

In all likelihood, the first part of that statement is likely true, but the reason it is true is not what Halzle says.

Nothing would improve about the operation of the offense probably because Nico isn't ready, not because Joe is performing at a "high level."

The whole "Joe isn't a leader" stuff is purely because he hasn't been playing well. The guy seems like he works hard and is a good teammate. When he gifted everyone those headphones before the season, folks ranted and raved about how this is what leaders do and he was really trying to put his stamp on the team. Leadership is obviously really important, but oftentimes it seems like people put the cart before the horse. Lots of guys haven't been playing well, and the most important position on the field hasn't been playing well. It is a lazy "analysis" to say that is because of a lack of leadership.
