Please, refrain from politics in here, lest you unwittingly invite PFers to the ‘Zone.

Covid. Most are tired of thinking about it. The news of surging infections are “for other people.” Nobody wears a mask anymore, and many give the side eye to the rare few who do mask up.

The new variant is putting people in the hospital, and yet denial is strong. Some testing positive without symptoms go about their days unmasked, reckless of others as well as themselves

If someone considers general health information and warning reminders political. The problem isn't the announcment. The problem is with them. Stop being so triggert.

Rebecca De Mornay was hot back in the day, but just noticed in this picture she looks just like Jennifer Lawrence.

So my thoughts this morning. WTF happened to baseball bats?

Last night a Braves player broke two bats in a row at plate on FOUL balls. One would expect he has very nice bats that are supposed to have the most select pieces of wood. Likewise we been going to D-Bats with the boy and I have seen people breaking ALUMINIM BATS! wtf! I still have my aluminum bats from the 70-80's they not only been used in baseball but for beating stuff up in the woods, as polo sticks on a bike, and for bat fats with other kids growing up, they were abused to no end by me, and not a single problem. Now Aluminum bats break!!!!!! and get this, they're heavier! Like my old Eastman B5 isn't legal for my son to use outside practice because it's -4 31" 27oz....it probably cost 20 bucks back in the day and out hits these 300-500 aluminum monstrocities now. It makes that beautiful sound you want from aluminum and not that horrid ping. They made a new version of it that is 1 oz more to be bbcor legal and it's like 175! wtf?????

Why are bats getting so damn expensive and breaking? How do you get required to make aluminum bats HEAVIER, and yet make them weaker to fail?

WHy are wood bats all snapping even in majors at such a high rate? WHy do wood bats cost so damn much? Did H&B just have some super secret squirrel method of making better bats that is now lost on the new fake assed LS bats?

I am convinced these prices are artifically inflated WAY beyond inflation, and that they are purposely engineering products that should last a lifetime to fail. Maybe this should be in the mad thread...but this is what I am engrossed in thinking about this morning..... What happened to baseball Bats? WHy are they all punk assed multicolored sticks of fail now?

Lol, welcome to competitive baseball. Don't let him use his game bat in the batting cage. Most bats now are a composite material and not the 45 lb AL bats that you knew. Get him a wood bat for batting practice and wrap a couple layers of adhesive tape on the barrel. If you get him a high dollar bat, tell him to put it in his bag after every use. One big shot can crack them so let the other players use team bats or get their own.
