Florida has laid down the gauntlet.

If you e never seen an SEC team get manhandled in an OOC foe before-either your memory is failing or you must not watch much football.

Hell, even if we restrict things to UT-I only have to go back to 2019.

Georgia State made us look like Florida last night.

If I'm gonna get thumped, I would rather it be by Utah than a football team from a commuter school.
I have seen some bad scores but if you watch that game it was rough.

Florida first half was punt, punt, FG, missed FG, punt, punt, time ran out
second half pick 3, turnover on downs, turnover on downs, TD, turnover on downs

That sir is a beatdown. An SEC team rushes for 13 yards vs a PAC12 team.

There was a time for the Vols when beating Florida was about as newsworthy as beating Kentucky. It was just something we did.

Florida spent about 100 of their 130 years as a football program sucking. They were one of the worst teams in the SEC, for all our granddaddy's lifetimes. Their entire lifetimes, cradle to grave. Even if they lived to 90. The Gators just sucked.

Then: Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer. Florida got good. Real good. Real fast.

But since Meyer left, they've been back to mediocre. We just didn't take real note of it because we were busy being even more mediocre. They at least won the East a few times while sucking (that's more a comment on how the East was until UGa got good than it is any statement on the prowess of the Gators); we couldn't even accomplish that.

We were caught up in our own troubles, and mostly didn't notice, but the Gators were only marginally better than us all those years.

Losing seasons? Yeah, they've had a handful of those. Four-win seasons? Yep, even a couple of those.

And here's the thing: look back up at those photos. Notice the big difference between our Dark Ages mug shots and theirs? That's right. The last fella on their lineup, he's still there. And probably will be at least another two seasons. And who will they find after that? Another Jim McElwain?

I'm not worried about the Gators this year. We're going to march into their stadium and rip them apart.

And honestly, I'm not worried about them next season, either. Or the year after. As long as we're led by Josh Heupel, we have the advantage.

We're back to the pre-Spurrier relationship. Let's keep it that way for the rest of all our lives.

Go Vols!
👏 nominated for post of the year. The pics got me 😆

You’re right, I remember when Florida was a joke, and I’m 45.

Realistically yes if Florida has a terrible season.
It will be great if he remains the Gators Head Coach mainly because likely Florida won’t return to being a great team.

I always would jokingly compliment Mark Richt on here because we all knew what could be at Georgia

We pretty much have to neat them convincingly now. After what they just did to Utah...if we dont drop, as many here love to say, fiddy in the first half somethings broken.

LOL. Fiddy? Why stop at fiddy? Hell's bells man, since we're ordering off the menu, why hold back? Let's go for seventy in the first half, with two interceptions, a side of toasted safeties, and some fumbled exchanges. Oooh, and let's also order one of those punt snaps that go ten yards over the punter's head. And some jalapeno poppers.

Sometimes folks just crack me up around here. Fifty in the first half in a road game at Florida. Ok.

Napier will probably get fired this season.
Which is funny because I see the same things that happened to UT happening to Florida. They were a great program, and have been taking it for granted that they could continue getting the recruits and wins each year despite who the coach was. How many coaches they been thru since UM left? How far have they got since, and what trajectory are they on? The Gator fans that loved kicking UT fans while they were down are about to find out how bad things can get. Love watching them go thru the cycle of hiring and firing, getting hope only to realize the last HC wasn’t as bad as the current HC(but both still not up to par). It’ll happen to Bama also when Saban leaves. If I were a coach I’d never want to follow in his shoes. Bama fans are so spoiled they will implode if there’s a three lose season and be ready to fire faster than any of us. Then they will start to free fall into coaching hires/fires, until they can’t get any lower.

Other than the idea of napeir being there another 2 years heck yeah preach on. Honestly they pretty much have to beat the brakes off Mcneese (not out of the question) and beat us. If either of those games they look really bad he is shown the door immediately I think. If he makes it through week 3 he has a fairly easy stretch until they play UGA then it's a lot of L's for them. I think unless last night's game was an abberation he won't make it to next season.

The box score of the UTAH game looks bad but the game it self looked way worse. They sucks in every single phase of the game. I am amazed Mertz ended up with 300 passing yards but they were chucking an ducking second half.. totally abandoned the running game and still only had one drive to show for it. Their defense was not terrible but it wasn't good. They got o turnovers, 0 sacks and only 4 tfls for 4 yards. Does that sem like any Florida defense in the last 30 years? I think Vandy would have given Utah a better game and thats sad. FL might be the worst team in the SECe this season.

Also Florida got a first down on 1 of 13 third downs.
It took Florida the 4th quarter to score a td, and the Utah defense had 5 sacks.

Florida stunk like a skunk in Utah.

Florida had one chance to take the lead which was when the game was 7-3.

Despite what the score says, this game was an embarrassment including because Florida never lead, and Florida had only one chance to take the lead which was in the 1st half.

First half all punts and FG attempts. Im thinking meh 2nd half SEC depth shines through. Nope. Second half a pick 3 and 3 turnovers on downs oh and a TD with 2 point conversion early on. Napier got desperate fast and their QB situation looks quite glim.

Now some arsetard is gonna point out Utah was ranked 14th. I say this willing to eat a bushel of crow if im wrong. They will lose 3-4 games regular season in the pac freaking 12. They didn't beat florida florida imploded. I am no florida fan and hate them vigorously. I am however very respectful of the SEC. There is a certain talent level and a playstyle even the worst SEC teams uphold in OOC games. I have never seen and SEC team get manhandled like that in my almost 50 years of life. The game was way worse than the score shows.

We cannot allow that game to be competitive after that show they put on. Our guys need to cone out and destroy them. After of course we handle these 2 games before them.
So are we already setting up reasons to criticize the team? With a sentiment like that, you have basically said that if we don't win by a ridiculous amount, then the game is a failure. How long ago was it that we beat Florida in the swamp? I will be perfectly content if we cover. I do not gamble, but beating that target means we were better than expected. Win by 100 or win by 1, same record. I truly do not think it will be a contest as I am pretty sure Napier is Florida's version of Derek Dooley.

Vols have laid a few eggs in the last 5-6 years…… Georgia State was the ultimate example, unfortunately

I hate that this rivalry is about to be lost to the ages for the most part. At my peak fandom as a teen it was all about the Florida game.

It makes me nervous. FL goes and gets thrashed. Then you know they will play lights out against us. If they beat us, which is likely given our track record in the swamp, we'll be a laughing stock. Classic setup to tear us down. BVS is real

Honestly I am just having fun bro. Its been over 10 years when as a UT fan one could have this kind of bravado and only be half deluded. Im reveling in it. Honestly no matter how any game turns out this year. I will do the same thing ive done for my Vols for the last 40 years. Support them. Im the guy who wears all my UT gear AFTER a loss after a win and on weeks we dont play. I am never not with some UT paraphernalia on my person.

But I truly do think this is a good year to twist the knife into FL. We will have a better idea after tomorrow and we have a tuneup game (as do they) in between. But, if FL cant find a running game they are in serious trouble.

Would you rather have Napier or Heupel coaching your team in those revisionist matchups?

Don’t mention games that were coached by the evil one, in our worst season of all time.
