Best Gameday Food

We usually mix it up throughout the season but my boys really like wings.
I’ll smoke them, then flash fry them, coat them in my homemade sauce, throw them in the oven for a few, just to make the sauce stick a little.
For my boys, I cut back on the spice/heat a little, add a little puréed pineapple and honey, to make them a little sweeter.
Grilled Brussels, potato salad...
My wife makes a mean chili.
I’ll usually smoke some ribs and a brisket for a game or two.
My boys are also nuts about the orange chicken from Costco!😂 so occasionally we’ll do an easy tailgate and have that, rice and spring rolls.

Nothing fancy or secretive, I found it on the internet.😎
Franks, butter, white vinegar, Worchestershire, garlic and cayenne.
For the sweeter sauce, I purée a little pineapple and replace the cayenne with honey.
I rarely ever “measure” anything, just kinda eyeball it now.
If making the sweeter sauce, go easy on the pineapple, you don’t need much and thin it out with the worchestershire and vinegar.
The key is smoking them, flash fry, then coat them and put them in the oven for just a few minutes to thicken the sauce and make it stick.

You can substitute pineapple juice for the fresh pineapple too and some recipes call for brown sugar but the honey makes it stick better, imo.
I’ve seen recipes using chili flakes and ginger too.

God, my wife and kids do that! They think it’s crazy that I eat my steak “plain!”
So, my father in law turned me on to this—marinate ribeyes in Italian dressing for 24 hours (in fridge). Then grill as you would, (grill hot as possible, 1.5 minutes on each side, turn to low, etc). Than the magic. Take a propane torch and trace the fat/marbling just to scald it a bit. It melts the fat in relation to the meat. Turns it into butter. Then remove from heat, allow to rest, etc. it’s incredible. I’ve yet to eat another steak that compares.

The Italian dressing soak is pretty good.

I make homemade southwestern egg rolls ahead of time in large batches and freeze them. I also stuff jalapeños with cheeses and freeze ahead of time. On game day I wrap the peppers in bacon and pop them in the oven. Spray the egg rolls with oil and put them in air fryer. I make homemade queso and pico. Homemade chicken tenders. Bacon wrapped brown sugar smokies and tater skins. Sometimes I do ham rolls or pigs in a blanket., and early games start off with redlobster sausage balls. Of course wings, shrimp cocktail, lobster rolls, and smash burgers are favorites too. Since my dad passed and my son married it’s just the two of us- so I always cook too much. I don’t fix ALL of this every week but they are all in the regular rotation! Here’s a pic from last year

Would anyone like to share their favorite game day food? We just moved into a new house and I wanted to start cooking each game day this year. Just looking for ideas to try.
I started a recipe page here Years ago, you might be able to find it. The members put up some great recipes. I think it was GameDay recipes or something similar

Would you be open to adopting a 45 year old son for game days?
Asking for a friend..

I’m all about watching games with folks.. but the few times people came over they did more mouthing about unnecessary frivolous things than WATCHING the game and correcting the zebras bad calls.. they didn’t get a return invite. Half time is for refills, talking and emptying the bladder. The other hour of clock time is only for what’s on the screen. Also any swearing, hollering, drinking, stomping does not have a decibel limit or word limit. Those who are easily offended need not apply

If you’re laying out a spread like in the pics, I won’t be doing much talking!😎
I will be feeding my face the whole time.

My V8 stew works great. 2 jars of canned stew tomatoes from the garden, chopped celery, one large diced yellow onion, a couple of cups of sliced carrots, a can of peas, a can of corn or a few ears of corn sliced off the cob from the garden, several kenebec potatoes from the garden diced up, and half a head or less of a diced cabbage from the garden. Add plenty of salt, pepper, Old Bay, and garlic powder. cook on medium low until the carrots and potatoes are soft. Yum! All the vegetables cook in the tomato juice, no water added. Makes for a bold flavor.

Hard to really go wrong with beer brats. The Cheddar ànd Bacon ones hit the spot also.

The buns make or break the brat though. Gotta be thick and fluffy at the start then briefly toast the outside leaving the interior warm and kind of moist.

Some garden fresh peppers and onions (caramelized with a touch of celery salt and garlic) while they're still growing early in the season along with a nice baked potato.

Little sauerkraut on the side.

Combine all that with your beverage of choice and Vol W-always leaves me a happy (and well fed) boy.
