That is the best case scenario.
I certainly hope you are correct.
On the 247 podcast the other day, they mentioned that the initial concern with Mays being out was not blocking ability or even getting the tempo going, but with snapping. That was apparently cleaned up in the 2nd scrimmage. It also sounds like Nichols was the main culprit.
So it sounds to me like, from a blocking/assignment standpoint and in terms of keeping the fast tempo going, Lane is doing well. It may have taken him some time to get used to snapping, but it sounds like he’s settled in there as well. I’m not as worried about this I was was a couple of weeks ago.
I’ve thought for awhile that Lane is solid, but not spectacular. He’s a veteran who knows assignment football. I’ve noticed him being in on some really well blocked plays (Evans’ long run against Missouri in 2021 comes to mind). I think he’s a guy they have trust in. But if he gets hurt before Mays comes back, bad news.
