The Atlanta Braves

Intresting info in the basketball forum.

Tom Satkowiak is supposedly being pushed out as SID. Also supposedly Barnes is telling people he only has a season left( we can only hope).

This is coming from Basilio so take it with a grain of salt.
Basilio had a beef at one point last year with Satkowiak.

I actually like TB's show - it's nothing if entertaining - but I'd take it with a big grain of salt.

I’m not saying it’s impossible to upgrade over Rock Barnes but I will say that it is going to be highly unlikely. So be careful what you wish for

Not sure how many dudes out there who’ve won 25 games five out of the last six full seasons. Even if he disappoints in the postseason, that’s still pretty impressive

If he didn't have DW running the show now, I'd 100% agree with you. If we had a replacement level AD or worse, this would be really bad.

Given his track record of hires though, and at multiple sports at multiple schools, I'm actually very comfy letting him run with it when Rick decides to hang it up.

I’m more than ok with DW making a hire, even then, it’s going to be incredibly difficult to elevate the program to higher elevations than Rick. The problem is the cardboards ilk and their ridiculous expectations who think Rick is a problem.

I think half of the BB forum thinks Tennessee is a top 7-10 program all-time. They think of basketball's historical standing no differently than football.

I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone who actually thinks that. You have your crazies, but I’d say it’s mainly just “Why are we so good for four months but how come Rick rarely wins in March?”

I've never seen anyone say that verbatim, but their comments imply that. There's all kinds of comments in there like "we should be making tournament runs every year" or "when Rick signs players this talented/we have regular seasons like this we should consistently be in the Elite Eight." It's like they have no idea we've made the Elite Eight just once in program history, and have never been beyond that.

We're probably, what, the 4th best SEC basketball program of all time? In a conference that was largely a one-team show until the last 10-15 years?

I can’t tell if I’m more worried they gave Yonny starts to begin with or they want to actually keep him around for next year and didn’t DFA him

The truth is in the middle. Expecting a S16/Elite 8 run every single year is outlandish. Making only two S16’s and one SEC tourney title in 7 years is also disappointing

In the NCAAT, at Tennessee, I think he's gotten kind of unlucky. He's been upset 2x by teams who made the FF and once by a team who made the Elite Eight.

SECT? On that I agree with you.
