2024 Presidential Race

Yep, overall he's middle of the road, but for whatever reason you ultra-right wingers can't/don't acknowledge the fact that worked for our country very well in times that were at least as tough as now and provided legislation that worked for everyone to some degree.

YES, he's anti-Trump, and that's a damn good trait

If he’s not for reducing the size and power of the federal government I can’t support him. That goes for any candidate. Our federal government is the number 1 problem this country has.

Agree. It must be limited. It's the principle for which this country was founded. That being said, there must be a heavy dose of nuance applied as to what government agencies are eliminated, cut and combined. There are are virtually no issues that can be addressed in an unnuanced manner

Edit: And the culture crap has to stop. Social media has heightened the divide on cultural issues. A fantastic and effective E/O would be to cut political dialogue from FB, Twitter, Instagram, etc..

Never been refered to as a ultra-right winger before..it's kinda funny...middle of the road usually works well for a while till the middle of the road is moved to far left that it doesn't exist anymore

I may have missed it, but I haven't seen any posters bring up Will Hurd. Didn't he jump in the there? Of course he has almost no shot of getting the nomination, but he's as about straightforward of a fiscal conservative as there is in the party. More importantly, he's non "MAGA", red hat.

Odds are -5000 @OrangeBoro declares him a RINO by 4:00pm CT
Who???

When the left mentions wanting a middle of the road R it’s because they know that R would be weak and soft

More like reputable, honest and not corrupt---but carry on with your macho fantasies. It's what Putin does--ride shirtless on a white horse to impress all the uneducated Russian simpletons with his fake masculinity. Rather like Republicans who also like to show off their guns and pretend they're cowboys or somesuch.

Explain what you mean by a "nuanced manner"?

How would an E/O cutting political discussion from social media be anywhere close to being legal?

Nuanced manner = organized details.

The resident barristers can correct me. An E/O might can only be overturned by the Supreme Court

Blue font?
He was a quite good president considering the hand he was dealt, and as mentioned he had scruples.
Unfortunately for him he took office right after the VN war and Watergate, and he had to deal with the economic fallout of Johnson's and Nixon's guns and butter spending spree.
He would have been better though had he booted Kissenger.

Sure, eliminating any federal department would require an organized plan but I don't see any real discussion from R candidates about actually planning to eliminate departments. They all just give lip service about reducing the size of the federal government with no real intention of doing so. The EPA, OSHA, DHS, Education should all be on the top of the list for any R candidate along with any other federal department duplicated at the state level.

I do not think you are even remotely correct on E/Os.

Suggesting paring down govt size and scope should be done in a "nuanced manner" and IN THE SAME POST suggesting an Executive Order to limit free speech in public forums is about as clueless as it gets.

Mike has always been the plan. Newsome is an idiot, but that is right in line with what the Dems want.

This makes me nervous as hell, whether you believe the Mike/Michelle theory etc....when you put it together with the strong push to normalize gender dysphoria and acceptance of that reality of t makes sense. If he/she does does she will be under more scrutiny and if there is a secret about MOs gender it will be revealed.

As to your last comment, maybe not. It's why I asked the attorneys to chime in on it

I have found most (if not all) of our attorneys here have little constitutional knowledge. Maybe RT85

Q: How do you end or overturn an Executive Order?
A: The President who issued an Executive Order can revoke it. Likewise, an incumbent President has the power to revoke an Executive Order issued by a predecessor. Congress also has the power to overturn an Executive Order by passing legislation that invalidates it. (The President, of course, may veto such legislation, in which case Congress may override the veto by a two-thirds majority). Congress could also effectively thwart an Executive Order calling for an action that requires funding by using its power of the purse to deny the necessary funding. Finally, the courts have the power to stay enforcement or ultimately overturn an Executive Order that is found to be beyond the President’s constitutional authority.

Executive Orders.
