The Atlanta Braves

Why is there zero chance of signing Max?
we don’t do last contracts and we don’t do fan favorites either ha and he is way less a safe bet than freeman and dansby were

I bet we don’t even offer him

Braves front office fought the man over what 500,000 in arbitration on the heels of an elite season

writing is on the wall, have they ever even discussed an extension?

You're probably right. I hope he stays in ATL. A good, reliable, veteran left handed pitcher makes a strong rotation

And thank god they don't. It's about winning. We have the best GM in sports

Man I love Fried but since we aren’t signing him (0% chance) we should absolutely cash in on some of his value at the season’s end or in a hypothetical like that.

Let’s be honesty, we haven’t missed him much. He is a great luxury to have but gotta get some dudes in the system.
we haven’t missed him because we have scored like 8 runs a game, not because we don’t need him. That’s what happen when you clearly the best team in the league

I do think he is west coast bound tho

The Braves are cheap. They've made it work by having a run of prospects and a deliberately tanking A's. They should sign Fried, but they won't. Aren't their financials already public? Will the revenue be even more public as a standalone public company?

Had some decent floods up here in Vermont the last couple days. Lots of damage. Went for a walk earlier and see the retaining wall we built last fall around our parks keeping the river about a foot from our right field fence. Proactive gents, not reactive.

Still like the reward/risk of trading him over losing him in FA

Yeah, I don’t think that makes sense unless you do it in the offseason. And even then I’m pretty fine with letting his control run out and getting the comp pick.
Yeah true I’d love to draft another sean gilfartin or Braden buttmake at the back end of the first

Note:

I’d normally never consider this IF the farm system wasn’t in such a dire state

But that’s ok because Sean Murphy is my favorite player

TBF, the Braves' front office didn't fight Fried over 500,000. They are one of the teams that don't negotiate. They list their price. If the player doesn't agree, they go to arbitration.

I'm sure the Braves would like to keep him, but I doubt they would go long-term contract on a pitcher when developing pitchers is what they do. He may want to go back to California anyway, and the Dodgers would pay him.
