To get Havertz, Arsenal put him on 385K/week wages. Whew. They better hope he re-finds his form for that kind of money.

I think he will. Still don’t know if it’ll be worthy of that kind of money though.

Feels weird seeing him with a Chelsea crest, but welcome Poch!

Spurs screwed up

Ange plays an attractive brand of football. They should be fun to watch this season once the teams picks up his system.

Oh, I am not dissapointed with the hire at all, and I agree they should be fun to watch. I just like Poch and didn't want him gone in the first place.

Poch is a hell of a coach. I’m not sure he’s an effective leader. His tactics are sound but tends to lose locker rooms.
Everything I’ve read about him says the opposite about his leadership and man managing abilities. Do you have examples of what you mean? I don’t remember his Spurs days ending because he lost the locker room or anything like that. Hard to judge him on the PSG year. That’s a tough job and while he had Mbappe, Messi and Neymar.. they were kind of detrimental to the way he wanted the team to play.

Luis Enrique to PSG.

Now what will happen with Mbappe? Going into his last year of his contract and he already says he’s not going to exercise his player option or whatever it’s called for another year to that contract. PSG say they will sell him before letting him leave on a free but Real Madrid is the only team really in it and they don’t seem to be in a rush when they think they can get him for free next summer.

Pochettino was sacked after losing Tottenham dressing room (Mail) | All Football

Interesting. From what I’ve read from outlets like Guardian, GOAL.com and what I’ve listened to podcast wise, Levy and Pochs relationship was much more strained than Poch and the players relationship. A lot of it came from that last couple transfer windows really. Lost Walker. Erikson and Rose wanted to leave. Other senior players were questioning their future, etc.. and then the Spurs spend in the last window before Poch was sacked was good for the 17th highest spend out of 20 PL teams. So maybe it was a distressed locker room situation, but only part of that blame falls on him there. He was warning of a rebuild the summer before he was sacked, and it didn’t happen because they didn’t move enough players or replace enough. Either way, fair to say his coaching style wears on players as he’s from that Beilsa line of coaching where it’s “strength through suffering” type training/playing. Squad make up is vital for this and honestly, some of Chelsea’s decisions this summer I think reflect that.

I am going to wait a few more weeks and see what moves are made before I decide which squad across Europe I am most excited to see. New faces and scenery will make for an exciting season.

3 Teams outside of PL so far that I want to watch:

AC Milan - Pulisic is about to transfer there most likely. Ruben Loftus-Cheek going there and they already have Giroud and Fik. Yes, all former Chelsea players add to my reasonings here haha.

Real Madrid - Excited? Idk, but with adding Jude and maybe Mbappe later this window, that will be an entertaining team to watch.

RC Strasbourg - Chelsea’s new feeder club. Most likely will have a few players on loan there so want to see how they do.

Most of the big change is here in the PL though:

Arsenal made some strong moves but did they get enough depth?

United didn’t do much besides one signing so far but midfield looks better.

Liverpool will have an entirely new midfield? Will it be good?

Chelsea is a brand new team and all 25 years old or younger except old man Silva, Chilwell and Sterling. Get ready for a bumpy ride.

I’m sure this list will change more though.

This is one of the softest things I've ever heard...

Jesus: I left City after Guardiola made me cry

I cannot understand why Gabby would even let that see the light of day. De Bruyne was injured and unavailable that game. Pep decided to play more defensive and put Zin at midfield. Pep was playing for 0-0 and essentially win the group. When Mbappe scored, Jesus was subbed on and went on to score the winner. At the end of the game Jesus took a dumb yellow card that nearly allowed PSG to rescue the tie. Luckily for City it didn't happen. Jesus went on to play a lot that season and had a great season.

How would you rate his time at Chelsea?

It was great seeing him play the first couple years, but injuries and managers took its toll on him. Project restart Pulisic in 2020 was brilliant. He single handedly won us some games down the stretch, the Man City game 2nd half of that year comes to mind, and that stretch was what got us top 4 and into CL in the first place. Chelsea fans, and even English fans around the PL that talk down about any American player, were all impressed. Problem was injuries, mainly the hamstring injury that kept him out for a few months. He just never had that same acceleration and confidence that he did in 2020.

I also think USMNT fans really took its toll on his relationship with Chelsea fans. Personally think we have a view of him as being one of the best, if not the best, soccer player ever produced in the US and the reality is he hasn’t been good enough to be a consistent starter for a top 6 team in PL. Chelsea fans became pretty against the guy just because of the toxicity coming from USMNT fans online when he wasn’t starting or playing. I think in a better situation, like Liverpool for instance, he would have played more.. but I don’t think I see him as a starter there either.

I’ll always be grateful though. Watching him play in a Chelsea shirt was great, and I’ll always remember 2021.
