Okay, I am a casual NASCAR fan. I watch parts of the races, keep up with the finishing order and the points race. let me ask this...is Junior finished as far as a real title contender is concerned? I mean, at one point he was a challenger and I thought he would win a championship. Then, after the swap of crew chiefs, he has never recovered. Now that he is at Hendrick with the best equipment, he manages only 1 win last year and finished 12th in points. this year, he has big time issues on pit road almost every race and has only 1 top 10 finish all year (and I believe that was a 10th place finish). He is 16th in points and not looking a contender at all. How long will Hendrick be patient with him?

he was running in the 6th or 7th when he tapped the wall and had to come in and went a lap down, w/ less than 50 laps to go. i think there needs to be some changes w/in that team.

At this point, it's a good race for Jr. if he manages to find his pit stall every time he comes down pit road.

Yesterday was not a good race.

He actually has two top 10s so far this season (8th at Martinsville, 10th at Las Vegas), but it might as well just be 0 or 1. A 10th to 20th place team isn't going to be contending for any titles.

It's tough to say. There definately needs to be some changes. Hendrick may loose his patience with Eury Jr but he knows Dale Jr is a moneymaker because of his last name. He isn't going anywhere.

hendrick needs to make a crew chief change before its too late, but jr has brought a lot of it on himself.. how many times is he going to miss his freakin pit? who does that... more than once? just seems like a lack of focus..

Seeing as only 6 drivers have won at dega since Jr.'s last win there, and one of those drivers is now retired (Dale Jarrett),than I guess most of the field doesn't stand a chance. I guess the best they can be is "was good" since none of them have won there since '04.

I heard someone on tv, maybe Wind Tunnel, say that Jr's pit sign was laying on the ground when he came in.

yeah, especially considering he hasn't won there since the 04 season.

coincidentally, that was also the last time he had a shot at winning a title.
Noted, but Talladega (and Daytona to a lesser extent) is still his best chance at a win since it's all car and they literally have to make zero adjustments on it through the race.

I'll say what I did before 2008 even started, I'll be surprised if he wins one race this year.

heres the video RB, you can see the sign waving, but i also remember hearing something about that... however, when he missed his pit, he was coming back down bc of a loose lug nut.. that means he was just on pit road, plus they said his pit box was directly on the start/finish line.. i dont care if the sign was on the ground or bouncing, he should know where his box is if he was just there..

To me it's glaringly obvious the Crew chief needs to change. The personal loyalties in this team are killing it's performance, plain and simple.

Two reasons that Jr will not make the Chase this year- (1) Tony Euray, Jr (2) Dale Jr.
I'm surprised he is the favorite driver of all the NASCAR fans. One thing good that Jr made in coming from DEI to HMS is that he won't have as many blown engines at HMS. Jr will be lucky to move up much higher. Mark may even pass him up.
Jr is an over rated driver, in my opinion.

I think so too. Jr has come out and defended his cuz often, and I bet he would pitch a fit and tank the rest of the year if there was a switch. Rick needs a more hands on approach with this team, more than any of his other teams for sure.

if i were rick i'd tell him he's in my car, and that i write his checks. with that being said i'd let him knw that a crew chief change wld be made

I really don't think Rick could care less how Jr. or the #88 team runs. He's got two race-winning and championship-contending teams every year with the #24 and #48, so it's not like he's depending on Jr. (or the #5 team) for wins. Jr. brings in all kinds of money just by showing up at the track every weekend. It's just a bonus if he actually wins anything.

I think Hendrick is too competitive to let one of his teams be just mediocre. Otherwise he wouldn't have dropped so many rides the past few years. In a perfect world for Hendrick, his teams would all finish in the top 4 of the points standings. I don't think he would settle for anything else. He's Jr's best shot to ever be competitive again.
