Closed beta starts here in an hour or so. Open beta next weekend. Anyone else excited about this?

Diablo isn't a day-one franchise for me as neither sequel really grabbed me the way the original did, but I will get IV at some point. I'm thinking when it's in the $30-$40 price range.

Really had a great time with the beta. WIll be day one for me! Not as complex at Path of Exiles, but I think it hits the sweet spot and is very approachable for people who dont want to no-life something.

Playing the free beta right now. It's Diablo. For sure. I did honestly love the opening cinematic though. Friday night was a nightmare, 30+ minute wait times. Have gotten right in both times today.

Never have played a Diablo game, so I gave the beta a try. I wanted to like it, but something about the top down view just kind of ruins it for me.

Lots of updates from the beta. Sounds like they are taking feedback very seriously and are quick to move with things.

Tomorrow at 7pm for early access, right? I'm still deciding whether to pick this one up.

Same. There were some things about the beta that I really liked. Graphics looked good. Story seems to be really good. Character design was in depth.

As someone who is new to the Diablo series, I didn’t like the top down camera view at all. Just the camera has me on the fence with this one.

I've never played Diablo on console before and I dont have a PC rig now that would run this well. Does the gameplay loop translate well on console with a controller?

It's what you would expect. Isometric games always feel cumbersome with controllers. Keyboard and mouse only IMO. Is it not keyboard and mouse compatible on console?

Im sure it is but I have no desire to sit on my couch and use a mouse and keyboard. I'll probably forego this and wait for Final Fantasy XVI.

Yeah sorry didn’t see this. Launch has been super smooth on PC. Think there were some issues with PS5, but think they are resolved. I’m going to pour so many hours into this.

It is actually very good on controller. So good that many PC players have switched. Much better than it was implemented in DIII

For those who got early access, what's the verdict?

Does it have online matchmaking? It's been so long since I played a Diablo game, I can't remember.

Nope. A point and click isometric game will always feel cumbersome with a controller. There's no way around not having a cursor and clicking. Nothing will replace that. It might feel good to play, great even, but then you play on PC and then you understand. I doubt any PC player ever downgrades to console, not a serious one anyway. I just looked at twitch. It's all PC for Diablo.

You're absolutely right, but I'll take the hit. I'm a stubborn one, though. I stuck with the "legacy" analog stick configuration for FPS games until it went away.

Haha. I remember back in the day there was a debate about controllers vs m&kb on, I think it was the first modern warfare. After a xbox tournament they put the championship Xbox team vs PC players from the crowd. The championship team got obliterated by average joes with m&kb. It was kinda hilarious.

I heard that's why there was no PC version of Halo after the first one, but I didn't play multi-player online until Halo 2 so I don't know myself.

I'm just telling you that Diablo IV is much, much better on gamepad. Usually its not that way for iso arpgs. I do play on PC FTR and normally a M&K for just about everything. Some will never change from M&K, but the gamepad is so solid this time around for Diablo.

Hmmm, I'm wondering if using the glide pad on the Dualsense controller would be an effective work around for that.

I switched to using an XBOX controller today (I know, I know, I said I wasn't going to pay full price). At my age I just can't see the cursor well enough, especially in the middle of a huge fight. Using the controller helps.

Finished story and really enjoyed it. In the endgame now level 49 and just having a ton of fun with it.
