Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

I told them nominally just two days a week. If those are busy days and we’re there 10 or 12 hours as long as we’re productive fine. If it’s slow and nothing to do after a couple of hours fine I’ll go play golf. If we need to run over into a third day occasionally fine. But nominally two days within the Tues-Thurs mid week block.

That should be fine and rather fulfilling. Get pissed off and next thing you know you are off several days.
Like you said..get to work your brain.

I just need an excuse to get up, shave and shower, and get the hell out of the house a couple of days a week.
That Latina of yours is threatening to murder you if you don't get out of her house some

I will probably get some podunk 15 hour/week $15 hour job.
I asked my previous employer in passing if they wanted me for some inside contract job that I could work from home, but we could not figure out how that would pay or hours. I could probably of done a full time inside gig at the office, but heck no.
I beat myself up every now and then as it was my best paying job ever by far, but making sales metrics and calls and after 25 years..I think I made the correct call.

I don’t know that I don’t want to return. If we all abide by the guard rails we both laid out it would be enjoyable. But since I worked there before and know the dysfunction first hand… 🤷‍♂️.

It will honestly be good to exercise the lump between my ears again. I’m only 59. After a few weeks we’ll do some cost/benefit analysis.

Work is often great if it weren't for the people ... especially those who think they need to direct what you know how to do.

There's not a wife alive who will quietly let a husband sit idle. I woke up today in A-fib and worn out - finally went to bradycardia and something else according to her - funky looking EKG (missing P wave) with heart rate still erratic but then down in the low 40s. She was on me all day about "did I call the doctor - yadda, yadda, yadda", but otherwise didn't bug me about much. Pretty much back to my normal now - which isn't exactly normal, but it works. BTW there's a device by Kardia that's pretty neat; it will do an EKG with thumbs or thumbs and ankle held on the pads and displays the result on a smartphone via Bluetooth.

At some point you have to decide to live for yourself. I understand all about gaining the "who you are" thing from a job, but you really have to at some point make life about you and not what you did for someone else. That really hit home when a great guy I worked for was deciding finally that he might like to retire and do things he wanted to do. He never got the chance, he developed brain cancer (Glioblastoma); I knew before I could even get him to go to a doctor. They operated and removed it once and he was on chemo and radiation therapy ... and was gone within six months.

AM64, I’m no doctor, but that doesn’t sound good. Are you trying to get in to see your cardiologist, or is this not an uncommon event? Either way, I’ll be praying for you.

Anyone been following the orca boat attacks in Europe? Has been going on since 2020 and I believe 3 boats have actually been sunk. They're highly intelligent and the behavior appears to be spreading.

Even the sea mammals don't like Europeans.

But seriously (kinda) I wonder if it has anything to do with the sonar from depth finders? These new units are pretty powerful.

was waiting for this to happen. there have been reports of them coming after people, and things like blue whales physically getting in the way to protect humans.

They are the peak predator, was bound to come down to an us vs them thing. May have to cull a bit to break the habit before it spreads too much. they will learn the hard lesson just as fast.

We just need to all pray they don't grow legs

Thank you. My heart has it's own way of doing things, and I've been seeing cardiologists regularly for over forty years now. The cardiologist I really liked retired a couple of years ago - he was new when I first started seeing him. I've had my aortic valve replaced twice (the OEM part only had two flaps rather than three, so it got leaky as I aged) - the first replacement lasted 19 years, and this one is less than two years old. The electrical conduction in my heart is a bit iffy, but it has been on good behavior for several months now. I'm guessing a pacemaker is somewhere in the future. When they did the last valve replacement, my heart went into block which got me a temporary pacemaker and a night in ICU. The pacemaker never had to fire, so the next day it came out. I can always call it there's a problem - generally I just take it easy and monitor a few days and then it's back "normal".

Moby Dick lives!

The kid that was spear fishing when attacked by a shark recently strikes me as a fed up shark telling trespassers to stay off his lawn.
