A heads up. If you get an email notice from the state of TN that says "The Department of Safety has identified your license to be eligible for an upcoming Renewal and your account is also eligible for a Real ID Star with no additional fee", don't just look at the month and date on your license - check the year closely, too. I made sure to get mine renewed on time and with all the documentation for the Real ID star - not that there was a hurry since I have a new military ID and Global Entry. Anyway I got my new license in the mail, but when checking it over saw "DUP" at the top, and it expires in a year - I'm going WTH. When I looked again at the old license, it didn't actually expire until May 2024. Not really sure what goes through the bureaucratic mind and reminders a year ahead of time, but at least the renewal was pretty painless - almost nobody there when I went.

Headed next week to Nassau to board the cat. Any last minute tips?

We're following your recommendation to pack our meats in a cooler, buying most other provisions in Nassau.

Any tips on fishing? Trolling off shore near the drop-offs?

Appreciate any pointers you may have.

Wish I could tell you but don't really know the Nassau area. I've sailed in the Abacos up and around Hopetown but that was years ago. You're going to have a good time.

Do get a rod and troll a cedar plug, you're bound to hook a Mahi.

It's really blown up in the states the past 3 years.

I think the one of the more significant changes I've made since coming on as partner is adding premiums. I've got Calumet, Blanton's, Eagle Rare, 1942, and Clase on thr shelf now and they sell like crazy. I guess my partner thought we were too divey and I reminded him that we sell karaoke and fun first, and people aren't concerned with how much something costs there. They're just trying to get drunk enough to sing to a hundred people.

Yeah, I took your advise and purchased several cedar plugs and I'm taking 3-4 rods. I've fished around Rum Cay a little but it's a little different from the Exumas. Rum Cay is surrounded by deep water, drops off really quick. We fished the ledges then. I'm guessing the same off the exumas. Probably just head off shore a little bit as we're island hopping and troll from destination to destination. Looking for birds and weed patches.

@Orangeburst (I think - been a while), I stopped at the gas station you told me about sometime ago. They do have premium without ethanol, but it's expensive. Anyway I filled up today - $4.50/gal, and I'll see if it turns out to be worth it. MPG on the last tank of gas was atrocious - 24.0 according to the car's computer (and more road than city) - the average hit 28.0 on the way home (about 3 miles) before I had to sit through the light at Morris Hill and E Brainerd twice. Have to get on the road to see what mileage really looks like.

Premium gas in AZ is at $5.19/gallon at Costsco (the cheapest price going) these days.

That's a lot. Gas Buddy says $3.44 for premium at Costco here and $3.39 at Sams. I'm probably not going to cover the price gap in paying $4.50/gal without ethanol unless the mileage improvement is somewhat better than I anticipate - guessing 4-5 mpg - optimistically like 5-7. I've always gotten the lowest mpg with gas from Shell, Costco, and Sams; Shell is a surprise. Told my brother that on a trip in my car when we had to stop at a Shell station. He'd been driving before and after the stop and was amazed at how much the mileage dropped; this was straight highway driving.

Gas prices here have been climbing steadily for months, even while prices for a barrel of oil have been in the 60's.
