Gun control debate (merged)

False. The problem is the gun. I just want to do what I can to not be a sitting duck. It's always the ****ing guns. Guns do not make us safer. Lunatic.

False. The evil intent of the individual will resort to the next available thing, to inflict as much damage as possible and create chaos. Using vehicles for instance.

yea, I know about stop and frisk. I'm not opposed to it in urban areas awash in guns....It's one thing I'm conservative about....

As for government vs. "freedom," we have a serious gun-violence problem in America. Go take a look at the photo circulating of the dead in Allen, Texas--including the 5-year-old kid. I don't care about some redneck's desire to play with assault rifles because he's got so little else going on his life....Sorry.

Good luck with your bitchin and moaning.

Nuts..........
There were multiple mass shooting in the 70's and 80's and gun regulations dating back over 150 years ago.
Yes there were 4 or 5 in the 70’s that would match up with what we see today.
One was committed by a 16 year old girl that attacked an elementary school in San Diego.

Started picking up steam in the 80’s for sure. The 90’s saw the real rise of what we see today.

There were a couple in the 60’s
None in the 1950’s

I think ND40’s timeline is pretty close. Guess you could argue that for ~190 years guns weren’t the problem.

Nah all coincidence. Gotta be the guns.

It's been...200,000 (or 6,000 depending on what you believe) years.

And yet RAPE has not been solved.
It's happened for tens of thousands of years and we're no closer to stopping that from happening.

Guns have a trigger.
Who's pulling the trigger???

I don't understand how this is still an argument.

If humans left the Earth....guns aren't all of sudden going to start floating and begin shooting the surviving wild animals...

If we start controlling guns then you'll have groups of 2-3 people form that have knives and quick made cocktail bottles of fire to harm people with.

If people exist that wish to harm others....they will find a way to harm those people .

Let everyone have nuclear weapons. Bombs didn't kill people.

The head-in-the-sand, we can't do anything about this problem, kids and other innocents will just have to killed, because people are people man.

Well reasoned.....WOW!

58 year-old Louisiana man shot a 14 year-old girl who was playing hide and seek with her friends. He saw shadows outside his home and started shooting. The girl survived.

"Hey, people are people...."

Why does this happen so much when we have a Dem administration?
Was this a serious post?

As if The 2017 Mandalay Bay shooting, the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida, the 2017 Sutherland Springs Church shooting and the 2019 El Paso Walmart shooting didn't happen under Trump?

^^^^ Hell, that's well over a hundred dead people right there. ^^^^

You really think that matters? Please tell me this was said in jest ...

So they have jumped to report a Hispanic is a right wing white supremacist? And he so happens to have a marking on his body that began as "RW"? You can't make this stuff up.

They didn't move that fast on the detail of the Nashville shooter and they still haven't.
Every group that isn’t blm or an alphabet is a “white nationalist group”. Just like the argument idiots make about the 2nd amendment pertaining to militias would label any militia as a “white supremacy terrorist group”.

From the 1:21 to the 1:29 mark of the YouTube video posted below, you can see that the Allen, Texas mall shooter had a Swastika tattoo on his chest, and a Waffen SS tattoo (the combat branch of the Nazi's) on his right arm.

I suppose if you can have a black white supremacist you can have a Mexican one too.

Sure. Here and everywhere. Now how about the current timeframe. By your fellow smooth brained liberals we’ve had 199 mass shooting events already this year ! 🤡
No one is claiming the rate hasn't increased. I'm just refuting the ridiculous claim that it was never a problem before.
Someone was commenting on how Japan is now dealing with high levels of mass casualty events. But the US had 3 times as many gun related mass casualty events in the 70s and 80s than Japan had in the past 20 years of any type.

First, people are going to have their individual rights infringed upon for the good of society. It simply must be that way. Just as society will make sacrifices for the sake of individual rights. It's a balancing act.

Second, there is no way of identifying would be shooters without miss-identifying even more. But that may be a price we simply must be willing to pay. I do believe their should be certain online content that is immediately flagged. Just like many people are legally mandatory reporters, companies offering online content should be mandatory reporters.
So we should start with other things which are much more deadly than rifles such as swimming pools (all swimming for that matter), alcohol and drugs, knives, and motorcycles. I mean if we're making sacrifices for the good of society, those things would save more lives.

I still don't really thing that is a legitimate argument. But if guns are viewed more as a problem today, the question then becomes why. Maybe because since 1970 the population has increased by 130 million while the number of guns in circulations has increased by 300 million. That's a 65% increase in population with a 300% increase in the number of guns.
Stated another way, the growth in gun ownership has increased at a rate 5 times greater than the population.

We are a gun crazed society today much more than we were in 1950, 60, or 70.

It’s really crazy as hell. We’ve gone from our liberal hippies in the 60’s raging against the man and giving the government the finger across the board to being their water carrying lapdogs and telling everyone that whatever the problem is, more government is the answer. Absolutely crazy.
And, at the same time want to defend the police. Liberalness is truly a mental illness.

You're eliminating the all important rational and reasonable qualifiers.
