Gun control debate (merged)

If you have a Twitter feed, it'll probably appear in your feed at some point. Seems like a lot of people are taking an Emmett Till approach to the video.
I don’t have Twitter. Never interested. And I’d encourage you to brace for disappointment on your hopes. If an individual really has conviction in their beliefs then they’re going to hold them even harder in the face of adversity or they didn’t have them at all. Perhaps instead people will set aside the non starter of firearm confiscation en masse which is unconstitutional and focus on the individual as we have wanted to do instead?

I see both sides of this debate, but in the last month, I can't open my phone without the news app mentioning another mass shooting. Probably going to figure a way to close it. Not ignoring it,but unless we figure a way somehow decrease this kind of violence happening,it will continue for the foreseeable future.
Make schools the model for how to reduce the likelihood of this happening on their premises.

Bars, Theaters, Night Clubs, Grocery Stores, Malls & Churches will then be free to choose to integrate that model or not.

(1) Gun registry; (2) mandatory liability insurance; (3) gun training certification requirement; (4) raise purchase age to 21; (5) ban on certain guns.

Easy. Everybody still gets to own a gun and think (naively) that they and their pot-bellied buddies are going to overthrow a dictatorship that's armed with tanks, fighter jets, nukes, and drones.

Are you paying for all these requirements? Why am I being punished when ive done nothing wrong?

And limiting firearm ownership is exactly what the founding fathers put restrictions on government to prevent. Those cats absolutely hated government. They had just finished throwing their current government off the continent. They’d put a tank in every drive way based on their beliefs when the Bill of Rights was written.

But hey the Constitution is a living document. There is a process to repeal 2A 🤷‍♂️

And once you’ve removed all the assault weapons, and the next massacre is carried out with a handgun? What then? More laws and bans?

Why do I have to have car insurance when I've never had an accident? Why do I have to be licensed when I've never had an accident? Why does my car need a license plate, making it trackable, when I've never committed a crime?

Sounds like a lot of financial liability just to exercise a constitutional right.

Good luck.

You act like im going to argue with any of that. Insurance is a scam, licenses plates are for the government. Although, you can convinvce me a license is needed just to keep 95 year old grandma off the road.

But to answer your question, Because government.

Cigarettes cost a sh*t ton more now than they did before the externalities of smoking were put back onto the producers. The cost of gun ownership should reflect the societal costs they inflict. Currently, that doesn't happen.

You don't have a right to do anything with a car. Our founders gave us a way to change things. Use it. Until then piss off

Be great if you could point to the constitutional amendment that protects the right to smoke.

It’s more basic. If your car never leaves your property and never enters public thoroughfares go ask those same questions again.

Still not understanding our guaranteed rights I see

So apparently some asshat kids staged another fake shooting at Stonebriar Mall this evening which is about 10 miles from the Allen mall. Assholes…

And you’re an attorney. Mercy.

Therein lies the real problem, 15 years ago if kids did that theyd be under the jail and never see the light of day again. Now however making fun of stuff like this is cool.

The creepy, crazy Texas politicians seem to want to make a big deal of the fact that somebody shot and killed the shooter. They want to brush over
the fact that he murdered 8 people first...with, yes, an assault rifle. The killer hasn't been identified but apparently until a few hours ago he was yet another "responsible, law-abiding gun owner."....And then he wasn't...

1. Already have a defacto illegal registry with ATF form 4473
2. Good luck with that.
3. The second amendment to the Constitution is every American’s certification. As confirmed by the Supreme Court.
4. Are we also gonna raise the age to join the military to 21?
5. How’s the war on drugs going?

Absolutely none of those things you’ve listed would’ve stopped this shooting or any of the others. BECAUSE CRIMINALS INTENT ON MURDER DO NOT FOLLOW THE LAW! Anything less than addressing the serious mental illness problem in this country is simply spinning our wheels in the mud.

Right-wingers are good at telling us what shouldn't be done to stop these random spree shootings from happening on a regular basis, but mostly remain quiet when it comes time to offer solutions of their own. Whether you want to face it or not ... That is a form of acceptance and tolerance, You are embracing the status quo, when you do that.

Amend the constitution or stfu. You clowns support mental illnesses and the stupid s*** that perpetuates the downfall of society. As long as people like you, el, loother, and ktown exist sensible people need to be armed at all times.

So your position is either we fix it all at once or nothing gets fixed?

We can make Schools the last target a madman with a weapon would ever choose to attack. We can do that today.

And we can do that without compromising anyone’s constitutional rights.

But you’re not interested.
Is it your position that having cops already on the scene of a school shooting is going to solve everything? Because there is recent evidence to the contrary. We can't do that today. Cops are fallible.

nope.……Well there is insurance that replaces your gun and provides legal defense in the case you would have to unfortunately defend yourself.

You really proved my point with this emotional rant ... You never offer any solutions.
