Gun control debate (merged)

So we don't really have a gun violence problem in America? That's what you seem to be saying. Don't have a problem with mass shooting and assault rifles--which are obviously used in many if not most mass shootings? All we need is a few more "thoughts and prayers"? Conservatives are always in search of an excuse for gun violence that doesn't involve guns. I'm quite sure the "responsible gun owner" nonsense has been completely debunked. Just in the last two/three weeks, there have been a dozen cases involving completely innocent people shot and killed by crazies with guns---people who mistakenly pulled into the wrong driveway, people who got into the wrong car by mistake, people who asked a neighbor to stop shooting his gun, on and on and on...and yet the crazies think more people should have guns! Sick...insane.
They're called gun nuts for a reason.

interesting, all rifles (not just “assault rifles) kill 400-500 people a year or less in this country. That meets your criteria of a “problem”?

It’s literally half as many as killed by knives.

There was a poster who said he carries extra ammo when he travels through Atlanta. My comments where to him specifically, the rest were generic.
That was me. I perceive the risk driving through Atlanta to be greater than driving through other areas I normally drive through, so throw a couple of extra mags in the truck. Don't care what other people's perception is; I care about mine.

Should be easy to amend the constitution then.

I live in Memphis. I carry sometimes in certain parts of town.

What comments would you have for me?

How dare your bigoted ass call brave, brilliant transsexuals and extreme leftists with manifestos "crazies".

Between this thread and the COVID one I don't think you've got the nutsack to leave your own trailer.

Has anyone ever heard the lie “men complete more suicides because they use more deadly means, but women attempt suicide more”

The truth is across all cultures you will find male suicide being higher than female suicide. It’s not due to an evil “gun culture”. And many female attempts are simply attention seeking behavior by people with mental issues such as borderline personality (far more common in women).

Again, I'll just say its disingenuous at the very best, and an outright lie at worst, to cite suicides as a problem with guns. And yet we've got at least a couple bozos in this thread using those deaths- which, again by memory, I think are the majority of firearm deaths, especially when combined with accidents- as gun violence issues.

If they're so concerned with suicide deaths (they're not), they also ought to be tackling the underlying issues behind the mental state of transsexuals. I guess it's easier to let their butts melt into their chairs and rah rah about firearms endlessly though.

Are you for real?

“Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined…. The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun.”
– Patrick Henry, Speech to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 5, 1778

“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.”
– Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, December 20, 1787

Sounds like he should go and start disarming people.
And that actually focuses right on the problem with their 'rational and reasonable' or whatever other gun grabbing approach they would institute. 'Rational and reasonable' would have to be a scorched earth approach, but as everyone knows, even a forest fire doesn't burn all the trees. The only trees in the case of the gun alarmists that would get saved are those that have criminal intent. Law abiding citizens are the only ones that would get hurt unless you could get EVERYONE to abide by their insipid laws. I'm sure all the thugs in those blue cities would pony up their weapons right away, wouldn't they? Pretty sure that if they institute a registry for all weapons owned/possessed, my knowledge of unprosecuted felons would rival that of a Biden or Clinton.

“To disarm the people…s the most effectual way to enslave them.”
– George Mason, referencing advice given to the British Parliament by Pennsylvania governor Sir William Keith, The Debates in the Several State Conventions on the Adooption of the Federal Constitution, June 14, 1788

Well I don’t know what your specific comments were for the poster that said he carried extra ammo in Atlanta.

Did you deem that rational and reasonable?
No. Putting extra ammo in the trunk because you are going to drive thru Atlanta does not seem rational or reasonable.
