The Problems with Trans-ideology

Sorry to derail this conversation. And this isn’t directed at you, open question for the thread.

But I’ve been thinking about “Karen” - a pejorative term used as a stand-in for a white woman.

White women do not belong to a minority. Is that simple distinction what makes it ok? If white women were part of a minority, would it cease to be ok and become offensive by definition?

Anyways. Carry on.
You already know the answer to this. No other group could you refer to a “Karen” without being deemed racist.

Anyone working in customer service was in on the Karen thing way before it blew up a few years ago. It wasn't limited to middle aged white women back then, though they tend to ask to speak to the manager more than any other group in my experience.

Oh I’m not trying to imply there aren’t certain characteristics that the term has come to symbolize.

Just an observation on how widespread and prevalent it’s use is, and if it’s acceptance is predicated on the majority position the Karens enjoy.

I find the term "cookie poopmonster'' to be highly offensive. I would be so pissed off if someone called me that.

Congratulations. I feel the exact strife you do with the terms that offend you.
Yes, that is actually 3 words. So much more insulting than 1 word.

"Homo" is slang, and has almost always been used in a derogatory manner.

I don't see why this is a struggle to understand.
It’s not a struggle… I think a lot of this PC jazz is just people wanting to be butt hurt over something.

A gay man wants to be called gay, but being referred to as a homosexual is offensive…. I guess it’s their prerogative

Don't be dense. Homosexual isn't the word being discussed.

Dwyane Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union receive TRANSPHOBIC jeers about daughter Zaya as they leave MSG with one individual yelling 'you Mutilated your son' amid boos

  • The retired NBA star is the father of 15-year-old transgender model Zaya
Former NBA star Dwyane Wade was booed and had transphobic comments hurled at him as he left the Knicks game against the Miami Heat with wife Gabrielle Union.

The 41-year-old, who played for the Heat for 16 years, was at Madison Square Garden Sunday to watch his former team rout the hosts.

However, the retired, three-time NBA championship winner, who is the father of 15-year-old transgender model Zaya, faced homophobic jeers as he left the game.

Some of the sports fans gathered outside the arena began to boo the former shooting guard, with one shouting, 'You mutilated your son,' at Wade in reference to Zaya.

Good, they should be mocked and publicly humiliated for what they did.

Correct.

Would you refer to someone who is mentally retarded as a retard? Why or why not?

They dont like colored people but people of color. It matters what order you say it.

This isnt a new trend. The speech police have been around for decades.

You cant say Orientals but you can say Asians. Makes no sense, because it isnt supposed to. It is conditioning.

This deviation off topic got me thinking. Words like retarded used to be a catch all for developmentally disabled and otherwise challenged people. I remember the term idiot savant.

Anyway it got me thinking back to a friend of mine who has an older cousin who the term would have applied to. He was about 6'6 and weighed 285 pounds. He would be considered nonfunctioning autistic today. I witnessed a couple of outbursts, one got pretty violent. He threw people around like rag dolls. He was always ok with me.

I'm sure in the future the term autistic will become taboo. Unless you're going out of your way to be an ass we shouldn't have to walk on eggshells when speaking to, with or describing a person or group of people. It gets exhausting and everyone is just waiting for an opportunity to get offended these days.
