Did you read this in The Art of the Deal?
No, it's in the Roy Cohn documentaries.
There are a couple of them out there, including "
Bully. Coward. Victim." on HBO Max. "
Where's My Roy Cohn?" is on Amazon Prime. That title comes from a question which Donald Trump posed to his advisers, including Roger Stone, who is featured prominently in the documentary.
Roy Cohn was a real piece of work. He was a homophobic gay man, who died from AIDS in 1986. He was also an anti-Semitic Jewish man ... and to top it all off, he began his legal career as a henchman for Sen. Joseph McCarthy, ruining the lives and careers of people who had not broken the law, by claiming that they were communists.
Ironically, Roy Cohn ended his legal practice (
prior to being disbarred for stealing money from a client), by denouncing the "
witch hunts" of his mafia clientele, which included John Gotti, at the hands of the FBI. The term "
witch hunt" arose from Arthur Miller's play entitled, "
The Crucible", which was a parable about the literal Salem witch hunts and trials. It was meant to serve as an allegory to McCarthy-ism and the Reds scare - which were what made Roy Cohn famous to begin with. The two biggest witch hunters of the 20th Century were Sen. Joseph McCarthy and his punk, Roy Cohn.
It is very telling and explains an awful lot, that Roy Cohn was Donald Trump's mentor and best friend.
