Tennessee (21-10, 13-3 SEC) opens play in Game 10 of the 2023 Southeastern Conference Tournament on Friday at approximately 8:15 p.m. ET at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, S.C. in the quarterfinal round after earning a double bye as a top-four seed.
The No. 3 seed Lady Vols, who enter in that position for the fourth straight season, will face No. 14 Kentucky (12-18, 2-14 SEC). Tennessee's final game of the regular season was in Lexington on Sunday afternoon, and the Big Orange raced to an 83-63 victory on UK's Senior Day at Memorial Coliseum.
UT is able to make its debut on day three of the tourney because it won its most league games (13) in a campaign since going 15-1 and claiming the SEC regular season crown in 2014-15.
The Big Orange comes to Greenville having won four of its past five games and 17 of its past 22, with the only losses during that span coming at No. 3 Stanford (77-70), vs. No. 4 UConn (84-67), at No. 5 LSU (76-68), at 19-8 Mississippi State (91-90 2OT) and vs. No. 1/1 South Carolina (73-60).

We have the prime time game, and KY has won as many SEC games this week, as they have all season, but we cannot take the win for granted. KY is pumped, on a roll, they had 10 steals against Alabama, and had 4 players shoot better than 55%, while making 92% of their free throws.

So, we must have ball security, and defense, and must finish our shots at the basket, or if getting stuffed on a layup, must pass to an open shooter. It’s time to end their 2 game streak, and we owe them from last year.

Play hard and never let up!

GO LADY VOLS!!!

Kentucky really stepping up in the SEC Tourney again this season. They beat us last season went on to win it against SC. Big game for us I look for a very tough game. Maybe they wear down late let us hope we come to play.

I like our chances much better this season.

Their first game was a little weird with that long break in there. Was still a full game but they got a triple rest in the middle of it which was odd.

Walker, Scherr and Green all played close to 40 minutes yesterday. Green and Walker same thing against Florida.

I think the Bama/Kentucky game was a lot about matchups. Kentucky matched up well with Bama since they do not rely on paint scoring. They were able to play scramble defense and get Bama on their heels with some of those turnovers.

Don’t think this Kentucky team can guard us in the paint at all. Really need to come focused and jump on them from the start like we have the last few games. If we jump out to a big lead they simply won’t have the legs to come back IMO.

Need to give a big pump fake before passing the ball. Kentucky jumped at every pass and Bama never adjusted. The way UK was playing defense Bama could have backdoored them to death but that’s just not their game.

I watched both their games in the Tourney and they look like a completely different team than who played the Lady Vols last Sunday. If they continue to have the energy displayed against Bama in their third game in three days this will be a real dog/cat fight tonite.

Are the Lady Mildcats back to full strength?

I didn't watch last night.

Last time I saw them, they were in a brawl.

Unless we find out later there are a couple of key players sick or injured and will miss tonight's game, it would be a huge setback to lose this one. The program MUST get the win tonight, and then it NEEDS to get the win in the semi-final.

These next two games are the biggest of the season and our players and staff will need to be at their best. No digging themselves into a hole too deep to climb out of. No waitinguntil the fourth quarter to get serious about defense. No letting up if we get a lead.

Get it done, Lady Vols!

I hope the LVs are paying attention to the first quarter of the IU game today. Michigan St. leads by ten because they are invested and energized. Meanwhile, IU is going through the motions and have yet to show any spark. Beware of Kentucky, ladies, they are not going to roll over for you.

KY will run on empty and they do not match up with TN at all. Jackson Horston Hollingshead and Strip all double figures 78-50 final. In CHRIST Alone
That's what I think also. KY runs out of magic and out of gas today.
Get this one and then redemption against LSU.
Or Georgia. What happens if we get to the finals without beating LSU? Any win in the semis would be great, but does it hurt our seeding if its Georgia insteaad of LSU?

The answer is yes because Georgia is unranked and LSU is top ten. I think they will be equally hard to beat, but it is what it is rankings matter.
