OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

I am Baptist as well. I honestly had never known about the mark. Do they fast for 40 days also?
That’s also why we celebrate Fat Tuesday. Apparently you fatten up like a squirrel in the winter, before you fast.
Not knocking it, just don’t think I could be that disciplined.
My southern baptist upbringing saw us devouring an ungodly spread of food at grandmas house every Sunday after church.

Preach it all day.

Got me some good ole hot fresh fried chicken from Kroger for lunch.
They had just put it out fresh & hot when I was checking out my cart.
It's nice & juicy too. I need some mashed tators to go with this.
Dude! You’re killing me, I haven’t had lunch today!!

We took one of our kids to a college visit at Mississippi State on Presidents’ Day. We got there the day before to take in a game at Dudy Noble. The Bulldogs were hosting VMI of the SoCon. Until the eighth inning, Mississippi State was only up by one run. On Saturday, despite VMI spotting them an eight run lead in the first inning, Mississippi State lost. They are still having some issues from last year.

Their ballpark is incredible. It has the largest capacity for any college ballpark, coming in at over 15,000. In the left field they have their baseball condos. They are each two bedroom, two bath. When they opened up in 2019, they cost $45,000 a year. Along the outfield wall they have five levels of grilling/seating (you can see that in the foreground of the photo of the baseball condos). That area is a vegetarian‘s nightmare. All sorts of a great smells and socializing going on.

As I said awhile back in another post, I would wear Tennessee gear. In addition to the shirt, I had a Tennessee baseball hat and the UT Nikes- they were a great way to strike up conversations with Mississippi State people because we all love college baseball. The folks were incredibly nice and they were rightfully proud of their ballpark.

If you have a reason to go, I suggest going to a Mississippi State ballgame.View attachment 537633View attachment 537634View attachment 537635
I’m so jealous of you right now!!

Titans actually end up saving close to $30M in cap space. Now they just need to trade Tannehill and draft Hendon Hooker.

Titans get under cap, cut LT Lewan, WR Woods

I don’t expect to Tannehill to be playing for the Titans because no desire to be a benchwarmer since from what I understand they are looking to the future, not continue to hope he can be the Joe Burrow great QB that can get a talented team to the Super Bowl.

I’m excited for the 2023 Volunteers football team even though they don’t have the continuity advantage because Hooker will be drafted by a NFL team that needs a Reliable Franchise QB that gives them the best chance of winning games.

2023 Washington Huskies
Penix Jr has an opportunity to get the Huskies to the PAC 12 Championship Game, and getting the Huskies to the 4 teams Playoffs because year 2 of the DeBoer era so less growing pains.

My very low realistic expectation for the Rhule coached Cornhuskers is 6 possibly 7 regular season wins because they are not mostly playing heavyweight teams.
According to a preview I read the writer gave strong factual reasons why 6 regular season wins or more is achievable for the 2023 Cornhuskers.
Anybody expecting the 2022 Washington Huskies amazing style turnaround is set up for disappointment because the Cornhuskers with Rhule will not be getting multiple great players equal to the amount the 2022 Washington Huskies had.
