Honestly, my ability to identify anything outside of say, Eastern White, Black, Red, Longleaf, or a common Pine type here in WNC/NETN is scarce.
Recall taking a app into woods around Linville Gorge one fall afternoon. Never imagined the variety of pine trees in such a small concentrated area. There were at minimum 20 diff types of Pine in that one-two mile area.
Some originated in LA, some in Canada. Amazing, either humans brought them there and they spread, or, a bird shat them there.
