I'm certainly hopeful for that and I think CRB has made us a better draw for recruits and coaches in the future. I'm hopeful that someone off of Barnes' coaching tree like Lanier, Kim English, or Schwartz will be ready for the job and be a qualified hire when CRB hangs it up. Hoping that they enjoyed their time here and would bite on the chance to come back. That would be pretty ideal or who knows, maybe we can land like Tony Bennett after UVA fires him. Kidding, of course, but that's about how the CRB hire feels in hindsight. What a fortunate set of circumstances that we hired Donnie Tyndall (lol) after Cuonzo stiffed us after he finally achieved decent success (lol, blessing in disguise), Tyndall pretty much axed himself with something that our crappy AD didn't know about or overlooked, meanwhile a coach that went to the tourney 16/17 years (a big accomplishment during Tyndall/Cuonzo years) was just fired and could be had at a price that Dollar Store Dave approved of. So, back to the original question, I'm hopeful that we're a good basketball program for the foreseeable and I'm hopeful our next hire is another great one like Pearl or Barnes but that's not exactly my expectation after the incredible luck we had landing Barnes. Hopefully Danny White is way more competent than the bozos running the place from 2010-2020 and he'll keep us at the top. He certainly seems to have nailed the football hire despite me and I'm sure many others being originally disappointed.
Nah man, VN has already hired Steve Forbes.

They're all getting garbage time minutes in the league this year, which sets them up to take on bigger roles in the future. They're getting eased into it.

I do think Keon was the least ready, but his athleticism was off the charts. Chandler might be the second best player we've ever had behind Tobias Harris and I hope he ends up having a great NBA career.

They all got guaranteed millions. I think Keon’s guarantee was at least $4.4 million on his first 2 years with 3rd and 4th year team options, and the options are almost always picked up. The Blazers picked up his 3rd year in October, so he’s now making 6.6 million. Coming back a year and moving up close to the lottery would have maybe increased his salary by $2+ million in the first two years. So, he was gambling on roughly $2-3 million to move up and risking injury and falling back by coming back another year. I think 99% of people on here would do exactly what he did.
