The DeSantis containment thread -- all things DeSantis go here

How many times are you going to change the narrative?
He was NOT the biggest spender FACT and I just proved it.
Keep repeating the lies though if it makes you feel better,
Obama inherited a financial collapse and recession ... For the most part, during Trump's first two years in office, he had a strong economy, which did not require fiscal stimulus ... and yet, his policies were reckless anyway. He cut taxes but did not decrease spending. That is the narrative, and it's 100% accurate.

So does every bad economy require fiscal stimulus? What is wrong with just working and living through the bad times?

Dont be so naive. Obama was a bigger deficit spender post Recession. The reason it even went down is because of the bi-partisan agreement. And still higher than Trumps first 2 years

What he did, and my head was spinning watching him do it, I already knew what was going to happen.

He made money free to borrow (interest free), then gave the banks the green-light to lend recklessly (which they were all too happy to do). Then he cut taxes on the wealthy, while increasing them for the middle class.

Sound like a good idea?

The Russkie Communist are leading the charge to destroy the USC and everything great about our nation. Traitors and stupid MFers

He doesn’t want them to become critical thinkers he wants them to become communist sheep and seeing they are in Illinois he will likely get his wish

Sounds so great..people are fleeing that dumbass his policies and those that think he is intelligent

llinois' population declined by a record 104,437 residents from July 2021-July 2022, according to estimates released Dec. 22 by the U.S. Census Bureau. This marks the ninth consecutive year of population decline for Illinois, according to census estimates.

This is about the tenth time you've thrown this out on this forum and I assume you're referring to Trump. If so, your premise is entirely incorrect. Trump did not make money free to borrow. Neither did Bush and neither did Obama. That's out of the purview of a President's power. The Federal Reserve OMC sets rates, period. Fed rates were at near zero all through Obama's presidency as a function of the Federal Reserve providing stimulus to the economy on the heels of the financial crisis. Trump in no way gave banks the "green light to lend recklessly...". All of this was in place and happening long before Trump even sniffed the White House. Through the 2000's Banks were selling crappy mortgages to Wall Street that packed them into crappy bonds and the bonds went to s*** because most of the people that owed those mortgages defaulted, resulting in the financial crisis, foreclosures and failed banks. Read The Big Short so you understand this.

No one has cut spending in twenty plus years. Not one single congress, not one single President. Taxes are back around Obama era tax rates. They're only a couple of percentage points above tax rates under Trump. Not surprisingly, that hasn't put a dent in our debt or deficit even though you seem to view that as the magic elixir. We have a spending problem and the felons in congress are only hurting their constituents in the long run.

If that makes you feel better about how the Republican Party performed in the 2022 mid-term elections, more power to you. LOL.

The reality is, that in elections which were identified as "toss ups" or within the margin of error by 270 to win, and Real Clear Poiltics, the Democratic Party nominee won 29 out of 42 House races, 4 out 5 Governor's races and 5 out of 7 Senate races.

In a mid-term election cycle, while a Democratic Party President had a 42% approval rating in November of 2022 ... Republicans managed to lose Governor's races in Kansas, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. Republicans lost 1 seat in the Senate and only gained 9 seats in the House.

Not a very impressive showing by the GOP.
