That’s not judging based on a 1 year performance…it’s judging him based on a track record of failure. But yeah, I’m sure Heupel is quaking in his boots because he did alright at Auburn for a few years. 🙄

I know what you said. If Saban can get almost whoever he wants and hired Steele, a guy he’s already fired from the same position, he’s slipping.

But sure, chicken little it up. I see this as the good thing it is, because I feared Saban might hire a good DC to replace Golding. Instead, he hired Kevin Steele.

Yes, Nick Saban can get almost anyone he wants. That’s how this works. When you’ve been elite for nearly 2 decades, the majority of coaches are going to want to be a part of that.

Claiming he’s slipping is a mix of ignorance and wishful thinking.

But okay. He’s been fired twice in 39 years?….Heupel has been fired once in far less. I guess we made a bad hire

It’s college football, the sport that has the least parity from year to year. I feel very confident UGa will be back in the CFPs next year, they are literally the best program right now. How do I know? See list of reasons from post above you just ignored.

Cristobol hired him as Miami’s DC last year and they were awful, giving up 45 points to MTSU, to point out one of a few terrible performances.

Yes, this is good for Tennessee because he’s a washed-up 64 year-old coach who had a couple of decent defenses, but mostly underperformed with the talent he had. Clemson and Alabama both improved because of his departure.

This is a step down from Golding. I have to think Heupel is happy.

I was hoping it would be Beldar…I really wanted to see us light him up a few times before he got fired for not being able to stop us…

The only thing I would like to see more than that is an OOC game against Arkansas St.

Dude’s been fired by both elite coaches who hired him, and for good reason, both programs shot up to elite as a result, but some of y’all are so hellbent on doom and gloom that you refuse to acknowledge what a garbage hire this is for Alabama (and a good thing for UT)…to the point that you go so far as to focus on the fact that he was “hired” by Dabo and Saban, while ignoring the fact he was subsequently canned by both.

If UT made this hire, I guarantee you’d see the negative.

Steele sucks. The facts support that. Period.

They didn't actually line up to coach there...He went through a lot of coaches who showed no interest to having to hire Steele which is a desperation hire at this point....If you don't want to believe that then fine but saying he is some kind of defensive genius and anyone would be lucky to have him is a bit over board...If he was that good then a lot of other teams would've been fighting for his services.
