Things I'm mad about today

I am the black sheep in a family of educators. They used to encourage me to teach, stating that I would be very good at it. Honestly, with the news about schools, I’m glad that I’m not an educator. Students wilding in school, disrespectful to everyone, physically attacking peers and teachers, parents who sue the school system and any teacher who defends themselves against physical assaults…

tl;dr
It's challenging at times for sure, but I'm very fortunate to be in a small, rural school, I think. Unfortunately, a lot of it (no matter where you are) is a giant exercise in PR with back patting, glad handing, and the like in terms of dealing with the public. I taught the parents of a lot of the kids I teach (no grandkids yet), and I'd have to say that the vast majority of these kids are an improvement on their parents. I get what you're saying, but I really think it depends on where you are. There are very good schools out there. And I want my students to respect authority, but you've always got 2-3 knucklehead teachers who use piss-poor judgment in dealing with issues and turn every situation into a major ordeal. Common sense, good judgment, and adaptability without compromising standards goes a long way in the education profession. I don't know how many more years I'll continue. I have my years in, but I still like what I do a lot and it's a few years before I can begin drawing SS. As long as I think my students benefit from my being there and as long as I'm enjoying it, I'll keep teaching.

My Sis bailed this year. She is 5 years away from SS but her husband is slightly younger so she will ride his insurance until then. She is happier than I have ever seen her.

Zero chance you could get me to be a teacher nowadays. Between the disrespectful kids, the ridiculous rules you have to dance around, and even worse, the parents, no amount of money could convince me.

Its a severely underpaid & under valued profession. My hats 🎩 off to any and all teachers on here

I got to say That is a damn fine commercial. Reminds me of the Benny Benassi - 'Satisfaction' video.....wonder if it was same director.

So things I'm mad about they Closed the Hardees on Hixson Pike. Also closed the Steak and Shake both because they couldn't find any employees to work shifts.
