I guess I am having a mental block on Marta. A sweet young lady and awesome person, but all I remember of her this year is when she stepped on the court, basically tried to do too much and was turn over after turn over. If she could be coached up to play within the flow of the game, could possibly be great. Not sure how she played for other teams (internationally maybe, but do remember she was considered very capable).
You missed the point of all of those posts. This could be a case of the Baader-Meinhof complex, but I doubt it. When you scrub Lady Vol's social media over the year, the number of negative posts has increased exponentially as the losses have mounted. Last night, it reached a season-high. The number of negative posts was overwhelming. That IS statistically significant because it shows many, many folks have jumped off the Kellie train. Negativity builds and snowballs. When we see other people share a negative opinion publicly, it gives us "unconscious" permission to publicly hold and voice the same opinion. That's why negative statements often snowball via social media. Posters here can laugh and dismiss it, but I guarantee you Danny White is hearing/seeing it.. and this is my lane of research so I do know a little about what I'm talking about here.
views or likes not the same . how do you tell if there more pro kellie than ones want her fired.I get that many people don't use social media on this board, but I'm telling you, don't discount the power of something just because you don't understand it. The game day tweet yesterday from the official Lady Vols Basketball account generated 18.6k views. Charlie Burris's tweet calling for her to be replaced generated 58k views. This will be something to watch closely as the season progresses - do additional voices amplify the "replace the coach" noise that is growing? Don't worry, VN; I will be tracking this and keep you posted.

well it is what it is and aint improved yetSome have called it hyperbole, but here's where the current team stands now about a third of the way through the season:
Field Goal Percentage: .398 WORST IN SCHOOL HISTORY (next lowest .408 in 2015-16)
Free Throw Percentage: .589 WORST IN SCHOOL HISTORY (next lowest is .627 in 1985-86)
Three Point Percentage: .278 THIRD WORST IN SCHOOL HISTORY (two worst were .231 in 1988-89, .254 in 2015-16)
Points Per Game: 66.9 SECOND WORST IN SCHOOL HISTORY (worst was 65.6 in 2015-16)
Assists Per Game: 12.9 TIED FOR WORST IN SCHOOL HISTORY (the 1992-93 team actually finished with 12.91)
I am a diehard Pat Summit fan. But I agree with most of the sentiments expressed. I believe that you can focus both on offense and defense. This current team has that potential. In any event, I still believe that Kellie is the right coach for the LVs and this current team will make some noise before this season wraps up. GBO.UT fans won't want to acknowledge it--but our program's slide really started during the last 10 or so years of PS's tenure. It went unnoticed because right in the middle of that stretch we landed Parker and Anoiske and with them won back-to-back titles. But in the last stretch of Pat's career, the women's game was changing and she was caught out by it. For something like the first 20 years of her time at UT, the women's game was all about defense and rebounding. Nobody was very good offensively; there were few gifted shooters or scorers. PS was fanatical about defense and rebounding--and so that emphasis dovetailed with the reality of game; and beyond that, she recruited extremely well, competition was limited, and so we rolled over everybody.
But when teams starting getting better offensively, we better coaches and better players started to emerge, we started to struggle. Team offense was not a PS forté. We still won the vast majority of our games, to be sure--but there were a LOT of ugly wins for a period of years--and if one looked closely, one could see problems on the horizon. We had some good offensive teams when we had some star offensive players, like Parker--but in the last stretch of PS's career we were not good offensively, by and large. During our Parker years, whenever PS took Parker out of the game, our offense fell apart--no star to bail us out. That is precisely why Geno gave us problems and beat PS in national title games. There were many years when our shooting and offense in general was quite poor. Go look back at the 2007 national title game between us and Rutgers. It was an absolutely awful offensive performance by both teams--we just ended up being less bad than Rutgers. And the problems that started to bedevil Summitt's teams have bedeviled us ever since. I adored PS and her legacy--a true legend--but in her last stretch the game was passing her by, which is understandable when you coach for 38 years. Happens to everybody with that kind of tenure.
Kellie has only had two years. She needs time to get her players into the system. She hit the transfer portal and brought in 5 individual players....not 5 team members. The recruiting is going to be key but it's the right players....not the highest rated. They have to all be on the same page and you can not do that in one cycle (transfers). She needs some space and time to make you guys better. That won't happen in this short time using the transfer method. Two transfers is all any coach should bring in. You bring in a whole team, then these signees from high school are going to wonder about how many the coach will bring in the next year and the year after that. I think Kellie would be great if she thought she had the time to build it. The expectations this year were based on talent and there was talent but not team talent. Two different things. You build it slow and right.....that's the only way it's going to work.

Agree. Kennedy Cambridge plays for KY and it was mentioned on a broadcast that they were cousins to the Hayes sisters. Found that enlightening as well, if it is true.Concerning about a lot of players, but not her. We could have any coach in America excepting maybe a relative and we wouldn't be in her top three. The family dislikes Tennessee for more reasons that their women's basketball program. They have a dislike for the school in general. So the situation with her is no ones fault. Other players you certainly have an argument.
More like sisters. Don’t know if there is a true direct relationship between the families but they grew up together. Jordan Cambridge (Vandy) the oldest of the same age as Anastasia (MS ST). Kennedy (UK) and Acasia (WKU) are the same age. They all played on the same travel team as wellAgree. you are on to something here AmbI think it would for sure help with recruiting and visibility, but...
Tennessee needs a coach who isn't afraid to hurt people's feelings. We know Holly failed in part because she wanted to be their friend. Maybe Kellie is guilty of something similar. I can't imagine that Candace would do better at creating that barrier, and it's not something that you can make the assistants own. If you're gonna "good cop-bad cop", the HC MUST be the "bad cop".
Kellie is articulate, says the right things, and looks the part on the sideline...but at her core regarding the ability to lead this team, yeah...she's basically Holly 2.0. There's a reason that no big time programs came knocking on her door after her NCState tenure until Tennessee called.
Researchers use data analytics to measure engagement. Engagement can be positive or negative. For instance, when TN football went on its run this year, there was a massive increase in positive engagement. What we’re seeing in the data for women’s basketball is a massive shift in negative engagement. Looks like it’s up 200% from mid season.
