The Atlanta Braves

Throw it more. Would definitely up his strikeout rate
Change ups are interesting when you get into pitch mix. I imagine ~14% is a sweet spot for him. Too much and it becomes fully dependent on the quality of the pitch because it loses the surprise factor. Not enough and you don’t maximize the value.

You throw out a good post 14% of the time and it surprises me every damn time

Pillar, $3M vs. Duvall,$7M

I think we came up short on this one.
Because he can hit lefties I'm assuming. They obviously see Eddie as the guy and they are just loading up on guys with history of hitting well against lefties to platoon. Duvall is a career reverse splits guy. Not saying I agree with it, but here we are.

Entirely possible that the Duvall we had last season is the Duvall going forward. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Maybe but he did suffer an uncommon injury and was playing out of his optimum position for majority of his active time. He just seemed to fit so well in the clubhouse and with Braves fans in general. Who’s to say that 2021 Duvall is not the future Duvall?

Duvall is not a reverse splits guy.. he actually hits both fine.

I guess in theory Pillar gives you some kind of CF coverage in the event of a Harris injury, but I think the gig is up on him as a defensive outfielder. Luplow has huge power numbers v lefties so maybe it works out. Maybe two guys is better than one guy since we’ve unnecessarily created even further depth issues for ourselves.

I’d probably still rather have Duvall than Luplow and Pillar.

Condolences to the Johnson family on the loss of Lois Johnson who was the wife of Braves pitcher and broadcaster Ernie Johnson.

She was also the mother of NBA pregame host Ernie Johnson, Junior and she was 94.
