SEC Coach of the Year?

Heupel should win it.

Kirby’s roster is loaded with future NFL players.

Not to mention he didn’t have the deal with the NCAA hanging over his head.
Or play Bama each year. And I hate to say that as an excuse but it’s a benefit to only seeing them every few years plus potential SECCG.

So who do we think wins it at this point? UT fizzled down the stretch so recency bias might give it to Beamer who finished the strongest, but it’s hard to see an 8-4 coach winning it. I think that’s possible, though. Brain Kelly probably disqualified himself with that blowout loss to a bad A&M team. Kirby’s to lose at this point with an undefeated year? That would be my guess at this point. I think Kirby or Beamer.
Heupel.

So many good coaching jobs this year! Heupel for Tennessee....10 wins year 2 is amazing! Beamer beating top 10 teams back to back to close the season! Kirby Dumb back to back 12-0 regular seasons! Kelly winning the west in year 1 on the bayou!

I bet Beamer gets it, his goofy butt has been all over ESPN and SEC and they are pushing it
I thought this too, especially back to back top 10 wins as an unranked team. But I think the fact he won last year, and also how poorly they played heading into last week and I don't think he gets it.

Honestly Kirby deserves it but Heupel is right there.
Georgia is built out of Maserati players. UT is built from duct tape and chicken wire. Based on those metrics, I don’t see why Kirby is more deserving than our guy

How did those players get recruited to Georgia? That’s part of the job description too.

I think looking at preseason and then fulfilling everything, it has to go to Heupel. It is SEC Coach of the year, I would think it goes to CJH. Predictions show UT should be middle of the pack in SEC and CJH led them to the 2nd best record in SEC. He is the clear cut favorite. Beamer has been great towards the end of the season, but in SEC play he is still 4-4.

Congratulations, Coach. Very proud to have you lead our young men!

Should be Heupel. Beamer did a good job, but also lost to some bad teams. Our worse loss is against them on the road. They lost to Mizzou, Ark, and Florida.

They would have lost to Bama and LSU as well.

Hands down it should be Heupel. No one in the SEC, and likely in the entire FBS, did more with less. First 10-win season in forever (Year 2 for JH) first #1 ranking in decades (Year 2 for JH) and depleted roster. Kirby is not a bad coach at all. But he did not exceed expectations. He is fulfilling them. JH exceeded already and could still win 11 games. Kelly lost any chance last night. USCjr helped Heupels case by beating the best the ACC has to offer. It is hands down JH’s award to lose and anyone else getting it would be a joke in my opinion.

Kirby inherited an already capable team with arguably the most fertile recruiting ground in his backyard. Notwithstanding he’s been there what 8 years and just won a natty. Heupel been here 2 years rebuilding a program left for dead. You don’t seem to appreciate the context between two very different situations and program evolutions. I contend that Heupel has done more with less and in less time. UGA didn’t play Bama this year either. Who knows what may have happened. Sure the SC loss takes him down a notch but I don’t know of another coach that could have pulled off 10-2 with that schedule

I do appreciate everything Heupel has done but I’m not going to discount a coach leading his team to an undefeated season with someone like Stetson Bennett as his QB. If we had him on our roster he would be lucky to crack 3rd string.

I think he’s better than that especially behind a five star oline

That's a tired argument. Kirby can cleary recruit, hire good coaches, develop talent, and win big games. Keep watching. He's about to win three more big games.

Sounds like our fans talking about Dabo - despite the fact that he has owned us and won two national championships since Spurrier left. But he's just a clown.

An 8-4 Beamer that had a 14 pt loss to 6-6 Arkansas, a 41 pt loss to Georgia, a 13pt loss to 6-6 Missouri and a 31 pt loss to a 6-6 Florida is not COY over an undefeated Kirby Smart or a 10-2 Josh Heupel

Do they give co titles? How long have Kirby and Beamer been at their respective jobs and their records?
Heupel is only on year 2 with one bad loss this year.
