Most Overrated Vol

It does, but in no way does it mean he was a better QB, just like a ring doesn't mean Trent Dilfer is a better qb than Dan Marino.

Tennessee didn't win the NC in 1998 because of Tee Martin.

I was very young at the time but I do remember Tee Martin making som big time runs in the close, close opening game win against Syracuse.

Having season tickets that year I totally disagree. There were a lot of main parts on the team but Tee Martin was the MAIN PART, make no mistake about it. I like Peyton but I'd rather have Tee leading my college team which is pretty obvious, and in like manner, PM was/is the pro qb I'd take over any current qb in the NFL.

Tee was a big part but I would give this guy the MVP trophy from 98

so a 3* back who ended up near the top of UT rushing list was overrated? Gotcha

Big games against soft opponents, his stats were there, but I always asked myself how he racked up so many yards because he never really played big in big games...

Give me a big game aside from UGA in 2007 where he stepped up... didn't really happen. His big yardage games came against the SEC cupcakes. Compare to a guy like Travis Stephens who did play big in big games.

He was the only Vol trying against Vandy in 2005. Had Tennessee won that game, people would remember Foster in a much better light

and you expected him to do more when he got to campus?

Not really... I'm not saying he was a "bust." My thought is that he didn't do much to deserve the attention and publicity that he got. He had one strong season and people were ready start talking Heisman, many might have said he was one of the best in the country, but in reality was hardly one of the best in the SEC. He was highly rated... and in my opinion, overrated.

I'd say your memory is quite skewed. Tee was good but he wasn't great by any means. He made some plays but not as many as the defense or the running game did. That NC was a total team effort. To say Tee was the MAIN part of winning it is giving him way too much credit.

Tee was good, but our D made the team what it was in 98.

There were MEN on that Defense, I wouldn't want to play against them.

The D was excellent that year, but give Tee his due.

In the SC game he set a NCAA record for most consecutive completions at 24 (23 vs. SC and 1 from the previous game).

His overall stats for the season:

QB Tee Martin: 164/285 (57.5%) for 2,442 yards (8.57) with 21 TD vs. 8 INT (2.81%). 113 carries for 306 yards (2.71) and 7 TD.

Not the best in UT history, but I wouldn't call him overrated...

Nobody is...

I just saw a debate on his greatness in a thread titled "Most Overrated Vol".

Figured it stood to reason that somebody had.

Edit: I went back and read where this all came out of someone calling Peyton overrated. On that note: No. Tee wasn't better then Peyton.
