It's like everything Wheaton says is ultimately qualified by the fact that our coaches didn't coach at UT last year. Thus (by his reasoning), nothing they've done in the past is predictive of their future.

Yet, at the same time, everything last year's UT coaches did is predictive of what our team will do this year.

It really is not rocket science here.

What the players did last year is relevant to this year. Not the coaches. But, things could change. We've all seen teams turn around and "come of age." I'm not trying to argue against that possibility.

I have already said that what the coaches did in the past is relevant. But, how indicative it is remains to be seen. Simply because there have been coaches with glorious histories not produce the same results in new situations. Kiffin didn't exactly reproduce the success of Reggie Bush USC when he was with the Raiders. You could argue that he didn't have the players. But, then you might have to look at what the current UT players did last year.

I believe Kiffin took the Raiders from something like the 28th ranked rushing attacked to 6th in the NFL while he was with Oakland.

There is no Oregon/UT debate. It's a major homer trying to compare his school (which is decent) to one of the more elite programs in college football.

It got overlooked the first time, so I'll say it a little differently.

I think you guys are letting one guy trying to pour on a case for his school make you think his school has more of a shot than it actually does.

I agree, Bryce Brown is not going to Oregon.

What happened to all the confidence I saw in this thread a couple days ago? I was pretty sure he was a UT lock because some of our guys with solid sources were saying it was basically a done deal. What has changed?

Thanks Kevin.

I'm on record with very low odds for Oregon's chance. I don't think they've been in it since his decision to visit LSU or earlier.

While I'm confident Kiffin and Company can turn the program around either way, BB is the type of player who can really accelerate the schedule and tilt the odds more strongly in our favor.

Do you have another interview scheduled with him after his announcement?

Well, I hope the Vols get BB, but if and when that happens, we will hear an immediate high-pitched shriek from Bama nation saying we must be guilty of some recruiting violation for us to have landed him. It will sound like someone killing a piglet with a fork. But we'll shrug, flip 'em off and move on with spring practice.

Jim Chaney is recruiting him. Is that just because he falls in Chaney's area? I would think we'd have the big dogs on this one. Just a thought.

I agree. I think Brown will be wearing orange. The only reason he is considering Oregon is because the Nike dude throws some serious money into the program and not because of the team's success on the field. TN is the superior program by far.

If he's a Vol, then what did Miami do to make him not want to go there?? He was supposed to be a midtermer and then something happened. I still say that Miami is holding on right now. His family is too involved in this and if Arthur stays in Miami, then Bryce is a Cane.

Think about it rationally: If he went to Oregon he and his brother would literally be at opposite ends of the nation. His parents wont allow that to happen IMO considering there are better programs near by.

That may be true. My only knowledge of the situation is from what I have read on here. His brother apparently told him to look else where and thats when this whole debacle started. I just dont understand considering that his brother is there and he had already commited why he wouldnt have already put an end to this if he knew thats where he was going to end up. Doesnt make any sense to me unless he really doesnt want to go there. I dont think his parents are going to force him to attend a school that he doesnt want to attend. They want him there for obvious reasons but if they were making him go there then it would have already been done.

I hope you are as dead-on with this prediction as the rest of your NSD predictions. I just think Miami and Bryce have both burned bridges. If they reconvene, it will be surprising to me. They are certainly our biggest challenger though.

That's true. One would expect that when he increased rushing attempts by 100 carries. They also went 4-12 that year.

The most amusing thing there is that the USC Trojans could probably beat Kiffin's NFL Raiders those years.

That's a definite possibility. Probably the biggest con Oregon has from Brown's perspective.

The idea of him wanting to be close to his brother (other than on the same team) makes no sense. They are both going to be pretty occupied with their respective teams. Distance is more of a factor when considering the fact that his parents will have to fly all the way to the other side of the country to watch him play. I think that is one reason his dad wants him to go to Miami.
