Tim Banks

you can’t put everything on coach banks. sometimes, you have to realize it’s some of the talent. once heup gets his top defensive recruits in, we will be better on D.
Yep. It's like having a boxer go into the ring with one arm tied behind his back. Certainly limits what he can and cannot do. This is why the staff has placed such an emphasis on the defensive side of the ball in this class. We really, really need more talent for the RB position. Hoping Sampson can be a difference maker, but we still need another top shelf back to pair with him IMO.

Tim Banks playcalling I was fine with. Hadden is hot dog water but sealed the deal. Once these new cats get in, I think we will see a lot of improvement.
Hadden is as talented as you need. Banks scheme is setting these guys up to fail.

Hadden and Burrell are well terrible, they're trying no doubt, this recruiting class should help out GO VOLS...4-0 🍊🍊🍊🍊
If it were just one guy... then you might have an argument. Everyone looks "terrible".... that's when you have to look at the DC.

Logically, the only reason to play such a weak defensive scheme is no confidence in the players. It looked like they were just trying to keep the football in front of them. They did stop their running game cold all night. Can't expect to beat a good offensive team with that strategy.
Less talented players playing behind worse DL's have performed MUCH better vs UF. The process of elimination is starting to expose Banks.

Only for a select few. The majority of us saw how much better we got on defense when Banks came in and recognize how much we’re missing guys like Alontae Taylor and Theo Jackson.

I saw too many missed tackles to point the finger at Banks. However, I’ve never been a fan of Willie Martinez.
Theo and Alontae took big steps under his leadership. Flowers and McCullough are also playing as well as they can play. We are just woefully under-skilled at DB.

In what respect have they been better since he came in? UT is currently 12th in total D and dead last in pass D.... and that includes playing a couple of the worst teams in CFB.

Less talented teams are playing better D under other DC's.

Zipperer catches the pass and Hadden misses the tackle. He then trucks Flowers and knocked him on his butt. Hadden misses the tackle a second time and he runs into the end zone. That was Floridas first TD. Fire the DC!😉

If you’re really interested you can go back to any thread from 2021 where this was discussed and get a quality answer.

No. I am interested in your claim that he's made the D better. I am interested in an answer to why MUCH less talented teams can perform better against the same teams UT is playing.

I'm not writing him off yet but I do not see any signs that he's scheming or playcalling to put guys in a position to succeed. I definitely don't see this "improvement" you're claiming. UF has sucked on O all year. Just a week ago a TERRIBLE USF D held UF to 329 total yards. L'ville slapped 542 yds and 41 points on USF this weekend. Yet UF then pounded UT's D for 594 yds. Do you think USF is more talented on D than UT? How do you explain it other than coaching?

Lol. Not sure what you’re watching my friend but we were in zone all day yesterday and corgi b so not fine we couldn’t have stopped a high school team. If your satisfied with that your still burned form last few years. I would like to take another step. Tim Banks did not call a good game and our secondary is terrible
We definitely were not in zone the entire game. The reason we were in zone at all is because their QB can run

feel like we got a ton of 3rd down stops tho. How many 4th downs has the gators went for before yesterday this season?

I was thinking that this has been Tennessee vs Florida for the last 20 years in a nutshell while watching that play.

Good gosh people. Tennessee has personnel issues on defense, especially in secondary. We knew this last year and nothing has changed. Nothing is gonna change until better athletes are in the secondary.

I’m sorry I don’t have time to form an argument right now. I just know nobody was here last year saying Banks was a bad DC. The conversations were about how depleted the roster was and yet we somehow managed to slow teams down. Now it seems like you and a few others have forgotten that most of the guys on our defense are below average when compared to other starters in the SEC.

Yeah, the attempt at "prevent" was a disaster. Should have just played the defense we had the entire second half up to that point. I don't get it at all. Made the game FAR closer than it should have been.

Really just saw that the secondary is porous. Made Richardson look like Peyton down the field. Not sure how that gets fixed in a hurry. Definitely have to continue to try and pressure the QB.
Has TN ever played well when we go to prevent defense? We never did it under Chavis. 3rd & 29 ring a bell.
