Gun control debate (merged)

I respectfully disagree. Take away the easy access to guns and if it truly is a people problem, then at least those people will have less access to guns to harm others, including young kids.

Access to guns used to be easier than it is now, hell 60 years ago you could order a gun through the mail. Less than 40 years ago BGCs weren't required in many states so now that it's harder to get a gun but we still have gun violence what makes you think more gun control will work?

You're not going to take the guns away from the bad guys.

The guy that just went on the shooting spree in Memphis was already a known criminal. He had already been arrested for attempted murder and served 11 months. 11 months! You can’t be serious about gun control until you get serious about holding violators accountable. Simply illegally possessing a firearm should garner a longer sentence than that. I believe the football player who accidentally shot himself in the leg a few years ago in NY did more time than that.

My Dad use to bring his guns to school, so that they could teach kids how to clean and maintain them. LOL Yet, magically no gun crimes.

I've seen old magazines with ads for Thompson Machine Guns.

I would rather live free with the risks that come along with freedom than be subjugated and safe.
Everyone would - within reason. You take it to the unreasonable.
And as much as you hate it..........society decides what is reasonable.

I'm not unreasonable because every argument you guys come up with for more regulation gets shot down with indisputable logic and facts. You and your brethren gun grabbers are the unreasonable ones.

No, I'm pretty sure that everyone with a functioning brain says that.

Than why is there nukes or do the people with nukes not have a functioning brain?

The point being, the people that want to do bad... would rather nobody have guns to protect themselves. Just like the people with control over nukes, don't want you to have them. There is no real gun problem, there is a people problem. I haven't seen any of the nutjobs identify the problem let alone address it.

I think that one flew over your head. Mexico has strict gun laws. If you'd like to research this, cross the border with one.

I’d highly recommend that you find a different form of research with either of our bordering countries . I know what just having paperwork out of order will get you , I can’t imagine what smuggling a firearm into Mexico would cost you . I can promise it won’t be fun . 😂

I think I saw where Chicago had more homicides in '21 than the entire state of TN.

It looks like slightly > 800 for Tennessee and slightly < 800 for Chicago, so yes. The population of Chicago is not even half of the whole state of Tennessee. Now I wonder where those murders are taking place in Tennessee. Mmmm?

They don't want to identify the problem because they will than have to admit there isn't a gun problem.

When did Mexico get hard to enter? We used to just wave and crack open a beer once we got to the checkpoint. Getting back in on Sunday sucked though

There have always been violent people and there always will be violent people.
Some are intent on being as violent and destructive as humanly possible.
That's why I'm glad everyone doesn't have easy access to nukes and anti-aircraft weaponry.

If someone is intent on killing as many people as possible, I'd much prefer they not have a weapon which allows them to accomplish their goal with ease.

If there are violent people , have always been violent people , always will be violent people intent on killing as many as possible … why on earth would any political party ( our leaders ) ask us to give up the tool we use to combat those people and rely on law enforcement? There’s zero logic to that .

Depends on what border you are crossing and what you are transporting . For regular 4 wheelers in line it’s not , unless you are the unlucky winner of a free inspection . Canadas kind of the same , just make sure you have the papers they are asking for available without having to dig around . I was unfortunate enough to not be able to find my passport one trip over after I had already passed into no man’s land between the US and Canada . That was fun .

So, we know some illegals that work for a company that we do some business with. It was two brothers, they've been here almost their whole life. One of the brothers goes to Mexico to go visit family he hasn't seen in like 30-40 years or something. He has no idea how to get back. :D Both of them are about as Mexican as I am at this point, he's desperate to get back. The other brother is like, I don't know.... I guess you'll have to hire one of those mules or something or be someone's bitch. :D

Its funny as hell, because the one brother is just ragging on him over the phone. The other one is terrified because he doesn't even fit in down there.

Canada's always been that way but they barely even looked up when we used to drive down in AZ. We could have gone through with a trunk full and they wouldn't have cared. Those guys weren't looking to ever do anything involved like an inspection.

The border guards that are at the one crossing, Thousand islands bridge are straight up a$$e$ . But they mostly deal with transport trucks . They called me everything but an American lol
