‘23 AL RB Jeremiah Cobb (Auburn commit)

You lost me at Dooley and landing big time recruits - he was a dismal recruiter and didn't recruit one (1) offensive lineman one recruiting season. He was great with a shower and/or a Rommel quote or story.

I can stand corrected, but I don't remember him with many big time recruits.

Johnson, Maggit, Stone, Patterson, Rogers, kept Fulton and James. There were more.

That’s a whole lot of - mehhh - not much - for the number of years he was the head coach. He was a weak recruiter and didn’t have a lot of interest in it.
Fulton and James were recruited by the prior staff.

And he was able to convince them to stay in a time where there was no portal and restrictions on where they could or couldn’t transfer to. They knew if things didn’t work out they’d have to sit a year but came anyway. It’d be dishonest to say Dooley had nothing to do with that, especially James who literally could’ve gone anywhere.

Rogers was an absolute stud until his off the field shenanigans and you can’t with a straight face say CP was “meh”. Underused maybe, but not a lack of talent.

With the smoldering fires at AU do we status this and other guys committed down there? Seems he was high on some wish lists early on, but don't have a clue where he is/was on the staff's big board.

Would love to add him. He’s a top 5 RB in this class in my opinion and would be a perfect fit in our offense

Think you give it a few games this season until those people at AU get their way and get Hardin out.

I think as long as the rb coach is there he probably sticks at Auburn. Just another kid that the whole damn school could be on fire and he’s going to go there regardless. If Carnell is gone somehow though I might be surprised.

I should also add I think Auburn is going to hire an “Auburn” guy at AD and at coach so I think Carnell will still be there and so will this kid.

Dooley & Jones both were good recruiters cause the University of Tennessee is a great place to recruit to. These two are poster boys for pompous a$&holes but they both could recruit. Pretty simple.

I'm still curious what they gave Tank Bigbsy to stay at that dumpster 🔥 ...There was some smoke early on with us and him but then he stayed put.It had to be a 👜 cause he could have exploded at another school...

But is Auburn really a better job?

When you consider history, yes it is a better job. I’m not sure how much that matters now. Auburn would probably be more willing to allocate more resources and money to football. But, it’s in the same division and I don’t necessarily think recruiting would be that much easier there. Essentially, in 2022, Auburn is still probably a better job but not by that much if your main concern is winning. The path isn’t any easier.

Even if Harsin is canned, I doubt the next head coach gets rid of Cadillac Williams as the running back coach since he's an Auburn alum. Therefore, I doubt Cobb would flip.
