I can’t believe people have such a sense of self entitlement and feel rules don’t apply to them. Griner wasn’t opposing tyranny by smuggling his/her drugs in another country, he/she was ignoring the rules because they felt they were above them.

I thought there was a Brittany Griner Thread somewhere ... haven't seen it .... so I'll put this here. A Russian court's verdict is she gets a 9 year sentence in prison. Also, she was fined 1 million rubles which = about $16,400 in American currency. President Biden pledges everything at his disposal to try to get her released from her Russian cell.

1. No love lost for her, but she doesn’t deserve this.
2. This is a sham political move by Russia and everyone knows it.
3. You can’t be hanging out in S holes run by despots and not understand you are at their complete mercy.
4. US shouldn’t expend much if any energy on this.

Early on, they were very concerned about his rhetoric though. I had a meeting with the (then) relatively new ambassador to the US just after Trump was elected. He asked me my thoughts on Trump since he was told the organization I helped run had significant insight into his political positioning, though I myself had not dealt with him that much. He is vain, egotistical and bombastic but he is meticulous at some things while preferring to stay at the big picture level on others, letting minions handle it. Main thing is never cross the dude, he does not forgive or forget. He is very practical, focused on personal loyalty and genuinely loves America, he really does in a way that many of the jet set do not.

He talks a lot of blah blah blah but he is a cold eyed shark when it comes to the deal. He is almost practicing thick face black heart Asian style of business and uses the bluster as a cover.

He also has an uncanny read on the public mood. Not what the media mavens are chattering but what main street thinks.

It is impossible to take Trump's constant whining about the 2020 Presidential Election "very seriously." There isn't any evidence to support his claims, and he has had one conspiracy theory after another de-bunked over the course of the last 18 months. It never fazes him. He just moves on to the next ridiculous theory. It is purely an ego trip. There simply isn't a scenario or set of conditions under which he could ever lose an election, without completely attributing his defeat to fraud, or to his opponent having cheated. Trump's assertion that his Vice President had the authority to cast aside votes from legally chosen electors on January 6th, is just plain stupid... and he still believes it.

Finally, your opinion that he "genuinely loves America," is hard to understand. He did dodge the Vietnam War draft with a silly claim of having spurs, after all. Yet, he had the gall to say that John McCain wasn't truly a war hero because he was captured? At least he had the balls to serve!

... and let's not forget that he was laughed at during a speech before the United Nation's General assembly... after making another one of his wild boasts.

I mean, she wasn't sentenced to 9.5yrs, that was the prosecutor's recommendation. I wonder if the actual sentence will be less..

I doubt it. Especially considering the political nature of the situation and the leverage Russia will have in future negotiations. They know there is no chance Brandon will let her sit there for a decade.

Apparently a school teacher was busted in Russia with weed. He had a prescription but it didn't matter. He got 14yrs. He's angry because the Rice regime isn't trying to get him out.
