I bet they didn't. But I agree that it is a stupid law, just like most every gun law currently on the books and those you want on the books are stupid laws.

It will become safer? Because Alabama has much worse crime than Illinois, currently.

fwiw Chicago gun crime (specifically) is almost all gang-on-gang or cartel violence.

The south has almost unanimously the worst crime rate or any region and the loosest gun laws. Correlation? Causation? Doubt it...but no one cares about all that lol.

Gun crime specifically goes back to gun culture. More guns...fewer guns...people kill people? Meh. It's the Annie grab your gun culture. Everyone wants to resolve the smallest issues with guns. Because we warp minds to think guns, from very young ages, from rural to urban and in-between, are central to life and problem resolution. Mental health...gun laws...not sure it will matter as long as we glorify guns.

No Chicago is well known in law enforcement for its criminal issues. It was a lead topic in fact a few years ago at the FBI reporting consortium. I don’t care about suicides we are talking about gang violence and firearms used in felonies. It’s not an Indiana issue

Mankind is free to kill themselves slowly. That is self-autonomy. But there's a reason why we don't allow drunk driving or 2nd hand smoke (in many instances).

The gun issue isn't about suicide afaik

85-90% of gun violence are criminals shooting each other, suicides and accidents. What else would it be about
