Roe vs Wade Overturned

That shouldn't preclude a rape provision from being on the books.

Instances of filing false reports in order to have an abortion, would have to be handled on a case by case basis. The facts, including those associated with your hypothetical scenario, will not always be the same.

Rape doesn't devalue life. Even if the report is accurate, it's not a valid reason for late termination. Why do you place no value on the life of the child?

The woman in these scenarios has many options. Birth control, IUDs, emergency contraceptives, abortion until 6 weeks in some states, or she can travel to a different state. But why should rape change the value of someone's life?

There's probably been more people born through rape than consent given how new of a concept consent is relative to how long humans have been around

Thankfully, a miniscule amount. All the more reason for the rape exception to be there. It won't end very many pregnancies at all.

So it is less than 1% of abortions, they can get an IUD or take a morning after pill, they still have 6 weeks to get an abortion, and can go to a different state if none of those options work.

Now I’m really not seeing the problem.

You don't think fake rape claims would increase. Just to get abortions...100% it would especially wirhout harsh accountability....be honest its not about rape for you.....your fine with abortion on demand...

The rape itself, is degrading to the mother's life. Rape shouldn't change the value of someone's life, but the mother's life should come before the unborn baby's... and whatever is best for the mother in coping with how she has been violated, should supersede every other consideration.

... and once again, a child who has been the victim of sexual abuse by a step-father or a live-in boyfriend wouldn't necessarily have access to those things you have mentioned. The child has usually been threatened with violence to keep them from telling another adult what has happened to her.

It’ll eventually become apparent to everyone. If it never does become apparent to anyone, there’s nothing that can be done anyway. Some people have terrible parents. No law or change in laws will prevent that

No, I'm not. I have compassion for women who have been raped. They should not have to give birth to the baby of their attacker. I disagree that there would be a significant increase in the number of false rape accusations made. That is pure conjecture on your part.

Right ... but that child should have the option of terminating her pregnancy, if that is what she wants.

Seems like a 1 in a million scenario you’re mentioning. But even then I agree with you until a point. Just like how we would both agree she should not be able to kill the child after birth. So yes, I support that option until a point.

Yes, it is ... but I see that as being all the more reason for the rape exception to be there. It really won't lead to the termination of very many pregnancies. Nationwide, maybe 1 or 2 a year?

1-2 true rape exemptions a year. With thousands of false reports. And I’ve already mentioned numerous options for rape victims. No law will save all rape victims. If someone holds you in their dungeon for 9 months the best we can do as a society is charge/incarcerate the man and offer to take the child if she is unwilling to raise it. But killing every child conceived from rape isn’t a realistic option.

I don't believe that... and terminating every pregnancy that resulted from a rape, should be the decision of the rape victim.

She didn't want the sex. She shouldn't have to live with the consequences of the sex.

No one has to live with the consequences (except fathers). What’re you talking about?

However long it is from the day she discovers she is pregnant, until the day she gives birth, that woman will have to live with additional major consequences of being a rape victim. That isn't right..

According rainn.org there are an average of 463k rapes per year. Any where between 2.1 an 10.6 % of those are false...so between what between 10 and 40k a year are false...( ruff math) with free abortions...numbers say different then your beliefs.... People will game a loophole to get what they want..period

We disagree on that.
