what is word in wichita on where he is going?[/QUO

I live in Wichita, and to be honest I am not for sure. It isn't that big of news around here. We hear things, like Oregon and what not, but most say Miami. Now, that answer is mostly because they heard it 6 months ago and haven't kept up because "no one really cares". It is interesting here...Oregon seems as big as Tennessee, Florida as big as Kansas State. It is a B-Ball state. I miss living in Knoxville where we eat, sleep, and breathe college football...

I am hearing some small chatter surrounding Tennessee, nothing about LSU, nothing about USC, and thats about it. My guess, and I really believe this, is that he will go to either Oregon or Tennessee. And I think in the whole scheme of things, he sees Tennessee as his top choice.

Please understand this as well. Having talked to the kid, he is incredibly humble. He is simply making a very educated decision. For him it is about what he wants to do for the rest of his life, not about attention or anything of the sort. His family is very disciplinary, and they have crafted both of their sons into fine young men who are very very serious about life. We expect 18 yr olds to pick a major and decide where they want to go to school and do for the rest of their life...Bryce is simply doing that through the arena of football. I am highly encouraged by the young man's attention to detail. He desperately wants to get it right...Go Vols!

Nice post Aaron, that makes me feel better about the kid. The only thing we can gather from the media is that all he wants is attention, so its nice to hear otherwise.

I have a weird feeling that we get him. I still can't see him going to Oregon...

I think Bebe is camping outside his house right now throwing propaganda at him too so that should seal the deal.

Yeah, the media has really given him a bad rap, or atleast our perception of what the media is saying. We live in an age where the athlete is worshipped and put on a throne. I don't get that from Bryce. He is a Kansas kid. unfortunately, if he were a white farm kid with a huge arm and high GPA (which bryce does have) we would be talking about how smart he is for taking all of his visits and getting his ducks all in a row. Unfortunately the media has portrayed this very far from the truth. His parents want him and his brother to succeed at life...this is a HUGE decision. Atleast he isn't playing around with a table full of hats with mystery hats under real hats and touching this hat and that hat and faking this hat for another hat over behind that hat and pulling out a hat from another to put on this hat....tada!

When you think about it, it really is hard to blame him for taking some extra time. He was committed to Miami and then they fired Nix(plus the rumors of something happening with his brother). That would obviously cause a recruit to take a step back and look at the situation again. So he's basically taking a 2 year recruiting process and having to do all that in 2-3 months. Can't blame him for wanting to get all the info about the schools he's interested in. The fact that he's had about 2-3 months to look, and Kiff has had about 3 months to recruit can't hurt since Kiff is all he's known at TN.

BB may be a great kid but the fact that he's waiting so late and has a pimp running him all over the place is what's given him the bad rep. Not his race.

I have heard that LSU is gearing up to try to blow him away with big time talent around him. It Mardi Gras on Tues before he visits and they are trying to get a few big Time LSU players to show him around. The two incoming freshman Randle and Shepard. Also I have heard that at least one RB that has or had played in the NFL will be on campus. I sure last but not least he will get to see the Two recent Nat'l Championship Trophies. Mabye he will drop one. I wouldn't be surprised though to wake up and see he signed with Maimi at 1159 tonight

you prove my point exactly...you are now referring to a guy you don't even know as a pimp instead of a mentor. and him waiting late has nothing to do with anything. sheez. if you had met him adn his family you may understand the situation better. but, thanks for proving my point even further. if he was a white farm kid you wouldnt have called the guy a pimp.

Man...you are right on. if we were making a decision of this magnitude you can bet your butt we would know all the information needed...what is wrong with saying, "Bryce, you are an 18 year old kid...take your time...you dont have to sign on Feb 4 like everyone else, get in your visits, make an educated decision...etc." i see nothing wrong with the situation. and people here know he is an upstanding citizen trying to make a good decision for him adn his family...simple as that.

I agree. The longer we wait the better we are. Everybody wants a decision right now for their own interest. There will be some heart broken fans if he does not come here. This is like pursuing a girl in HS and she is getting attention from all the other studs. There are many more out there and maybe better.

I read this dam board daily and the winner and wants in me and like most fans is we gotta have this one or else. Well if we do not, other backs will be available in 2010. Who knows we may get Oku before it is over. This is not a mess like it seems to be for all. Its all about the chase.

If he were my son, I would be proud of the time he is taking to make an informed decision and Bulter would not be involved in the process.

We have a three good backs that can play. This sets us up for next years recruiting class. There will be more out there.

I like most follow this one closely and it is like "oh no Bryce Brown is going to take a Crap" I just hope it is not in our Wheaties Dish.

Taking his time, making an educated life-altering choice. We will have a place for you in the middle of March, come on down.

dont know why people are freaking out about him to hurry up and sign somehwere... what is the diffrence between the 4th and march 16th.. nobody can come until june so its not a big deal he signs and sits on his butt till june

I believe this scenerio is working out in our favor as well. I hope they eventually set signing dates within a week of NSD though to put an end to this misery. But this extra time with Brown is allowing us the ability to reel him in. I think the more time he has to keep us in play the more comfortable hes getting with our staff and the idea of playing at UT. UM is out I think unless he signs today. LSU cant possibly pull this out with the short amount of time they have invested in him...I would be shocked if they pull it off. I dont think he ends up at Oregon because it just doesnt make any sense for him to travel to an average PAC 10 team on the other side of the nation. He likes them alot but for all the wrong reasons and he will realize that. He wont land at Oregon in the end. I say its us or LSU. LSU is at an advatage with talent but we are at an advantage with time invested.

If he wants the courtship and the true "Limelight", then UTK is a no brainer.

This is the best stepping off point for a NC and to the NFL. Energy, a defense, a pro style offense, unknown talent plus the ability to bring in top talent every year he stays.

Best fans in the world and national TV exposure in the best Conference in the one of the country's largest stadium.

What more could you ask for and add to the fact it is a fast rising program which will put a better product out there every year as it ages.

Add to the fact that the coaches will be here for the entire time of his college career. Stability. I that not good enough. Again, it is a no brainer.

Just a thought: Maybe the Nike owner has promised him a contract or maybe designing the next 10 uniforms for the cheeleaders. Just a thought. I would think that helps him fall asleep at night.

If it happens than so be it.

It is not worth trouble to match that offer. Anybody who would could be classified as an idiot.

I am sure Oregon as bad as they want him would risk the NCAA death penalty the would come with it.

If we lose him on a shady deal like that then it was worth not getting him to begin with because it was about money and not his love of the game. He has a bright future in front of him and I do not think he is about greed right now. Give the kid some credit.

You should not worry about nonsense you have no control over.

I think this may help clear up the Bryce Brown saga a little bit as far as rumors are concerned...

Bryce is not an egotistical maniac. I have talked to some of his peers growing up here in Wichita and they continue to tell me how Bryce and Arthur were simply raised differently. They were in a very strict disciplinarian household. Some interesting stories...if they got in trouble they would have to strap weights to their legs and walk around as punishment, they were not allowed to go to any parties, were never allowed to have video games. They ran for fun. Please understand for this family it is a business decision on what is going to be best for their son(s) career wise. They are very serious about discipline, hard work, and doing things by the book. People are reacting to a mentor who is in place by Bryce's dad to help with the side of college football that they feel inadequate in dealing with. This is not as Low says it is...

If what you are saying is true then LSU is in it way more than I thought. Because from a business stand point LSUs recruiting class is better than ours

So where does all this leave Brown? It looks more and more as if this could come down to Oregon and Tennessee, with LSU a possibility depending on how his visit goes. That is, of course, if it's true that Miami will pull its offer.

sorry if that was already posted
