Roe vs Wade Overturned

How liberal states and sanctuary cities get away with illegal immigration status makes me question why this matters.

It is. He wrote it. The other justices didn't let him write it as the majority opinion.

He never stated his personal beliefs. He stated what he believes is the meaning of the constitution as it is written. If people disagree with the constitution then they need to work to amend it. I for one do not want un-elected and unaccountable judges legislating from the bench and creating law. Follow the constitution and let the legislatures do their jobs and we voters need to hold them accountable.

It's called an opinion for a reason.

Edit: He's stating his opinion of the constitution and how it's framed. Rant about the tenets of federalism all you want, it's Thomas's position.

He lost, I'm actually not mad. Republicans just sealed their fate with young voters. This, combined with their refusal to pass gun control because they're in the NRA's pockets, is going to make a lot of people vote blue. Hope you enjoy it before the boomers die off, its over when that happens.
Except the left sealed the fate with the young Republicans staying because those new drivers see how much gas cost, supply chain debacle and most importantly that Covid took away their high school years. All under the lefts leadership.

At any point prior to birth do you consider it murder?

Can I take the claw end of a hammer to the thing as it crowns?

Obviously, at some point it becomes murder.
The original logic of Roe was at the point of viability which under current medical abilities would be around the 26th week. Of course, that wasn’t nearly good enough for the Death Cult of Moloch who have made it their mission to allow termination up until the instant it is no longer possible to shove the child back into the birth canal

You're not picking up what I'm putting down. He never said he was Ok with anything or said he believed states should restrict any rights. In simple terms he just said various previous rulings were wrong because they overstepped the constitution as written.

He was simply pointing out that other cases that were settled with the same 14th argument are now vulnerable to being overturned given this new precedent. He wasn't necessarily advocating additional bans.

See may edit. I understand exactly what you're saying and I disagree. It's his freaking opinion on the interpretation of the constitution and he believes its constitutional for a state to tell my wife she can't take the pill.

I didnt mean to imply he was advocating for bans (although from what I've read about him in the past, he's no champion of personal liberty). I said he's opening the door for them.

I disagree with your analysis. And even if you were correct, I would still rejoice that at least the conservatives of my generation can pass into the next world with a clear conscience. Eventual electoral defeat would be a small price to pay for the millions of lives that would be saved in the meantime.
And by the way, speaking of „sealing their fate“ with a block of voters, you may just want to do a little investigation into exactly how America‘s fastest growing group (Hispanics) feels about abortion. (Actually maybe you shouldn’t, it would REALLY depress you 😉)

The Left (one day apart): The Supreme Court has no business adjudicating NY gun laws. The Supreme Court should adjudicate State abortion law.

The Right (one day apart): The Supreme Court should adjudicate State gun law. The Supreme Court has no business adjudicating State abortion laws.

How about both sides come together and agree that maybe the Founders had a few things right, strictly limit the Federal Gov't, return to the original intent of the 14th Amendment (or strike it entirely as it is no longer needed) and return power back to individual sovereign States. Then California, New York, etc can finally be the progressive utopia they envision.

He's right it would be constitutional. It's time for state legislatures and congress to quit hiding behind the robes of the supreme court and way past time for us voters to hold our elected officials accountable at the ballot box and stop relying on the courts.

Your wife gets pregnant, the placenta detaches or some other happening where the fetus is fated to die. Are you okay with the fact that she is now bound to carry that fetus dying inside of her and dying of sepsis herself now?

He's saying the 14th amendment doesn't prevent it.

What state banned "health of the mother" abortions?
