Think I'm done with gas powered chain saws. Picked up a battery powered chain saw today. I'll post updates after use. I hope it meets my needs...even if it's close but not equal to the gasser I'll be happy.

It's good for limbing and smaller trees about 4 inches in diameter depending on the model you have. I have the Ryobi 10 inch brushless that's okay, but I still get the Husky out for the big work.

For a homeowner that trims every so often, is probably okay. For any heavy work, you'll want something with more power.

True. I have the DeWalt electric chain saw and it's great for 20-30 minutes of light work but for felling and cutting up a tree of any substance gotta break out the Stihl.

I got an EGO 18". My gasser was 18" so i can keep my chains. Chainsaw work is very taxing on my body. So, I am only going in short bursts with lots of break time anyway. Ive got a large oak down from storms so its first test will be a doozie.

I think you’re going to find out it comes down to energy storage. There is simply no substitute for dino based energy storage on energy per unit weight. You can make an electric chain saw as powerful as a gas but you have to feed it also. EGO makes good stuff I’ve got two pieces of theirs. I’m guessing that battery storage and charging will help your rest period interval. I’d suggest buying the biggest EGO battery pack you can find.

I'm thinking if my body can outlast the machine, I will buy another battery pack and rotate them. We'll see.
