Finally got the lawn mowed today ... after paying $20+ to mostly fill up the gas can ... and then phone calls. One was from my brother. He and his wife are quarantined in a Budapest hotel ... courtesy of Viking river cruises and covid. Glad I sorta fended off the wife on going with them, but we really do need a trip somewhere. He said it was strange on the boat; one day people are there, and the next they are MIA without explanation. Apparently omicron is really hitting Europe now.

You can also get that mountain cabin in AZ. Plenty of options around 5K-7K feet elevation, including the largest Ponderosa pine forest in the nation.

Took that drive from Roosevelt Dam to Apache Junction one day. Quite the view and drive. Also love the area around Payson and up on the rim of the tonto Basin.

It was a compromise. My wife and kid went out Thursday last week and come home Sunday. I flew out Tuesday and left this morning. My wife's 40th birthday was Wednesday and it was made quite clear that missing her 40th would not be acceptable. In the grand scheme I feel like I won. Well more like she's letting me feel like I won.

Another rule of marital "bliss" - never miss a birthday or a wedding anniversary - especially the ones ending in a "0".

Quick note: surgeon ****ed up post-procedure, ended up taking about 12cm x 12cm of skin off my shin by refusing to follow wound care's post-op wrapping instructions. Wound Care even supplied full instructions, all the supplies, and a nurse.

Looking for the humor in all this. Just glad school is out so I can sleep while fighting infection. But hey, the operation itself worked like gangbusters and my left leg is easily 1/3 the size it was this time last week.

Oof. Keep the faith man. Glad at least the leg procedure went well. Tell the surgeon you get to kick him in the balls till he passes out and you’re even?

I may do that. Even worse, though? MrsG is pissed. She cursed (normally only happens after I go to Best Buy or Microcenter) and is going to my follow up appointment.

Got stuck behind a car this morning while taking my daughter to school. Son of a gun had scented exhaust; it was like trying to inhale rotten Juicy Fruit.
