Remember When

Cheating has been going on forever in college athletics, the money people just had to be very discreet so as to not be caught. Alabama was probably the best there was at paying the 4 & 5* players, maybe by the SEC and NCAA not wanting to catch them. Saban didn't have a problem telling reporters that Bryce Young was going to make close to or more than $1,000,000.00 last year, but now that other schools can do it and some more able to do more NIL deals, he wants to cry about it. He knows the gravy train is making stops in other places besides Tuscaloosa now. His comments recently about parity being needed in college athletics rings hollow.

To be fair though, Saban was a proven winner at that point. It’s not like he was some ragtag FCS coach who got his first big break.

He was an average coach at Michigan State, done good at LSU and sucked as a HC for the Dolphins. He ran away from the NFL when he realized he couldn’t buy NFL players with unlimited money. He went back to college where he could buy the best players in the country and and not have to worry about a cap.

Yeah, he done real good by winning a natty at LSU. That’s an easy sell to a 17 year old recruit (along with 50 grand and a brand new mustang).
