Gun control debate (merged)

WTF? How is that even comparable.
It's not and I think he knows that.
They only have so many bullets in the chamber......
Guns don't kill people, people do.
Trucks kill people, I guess we should ban all trucks.
A rock can be used as a weapon.
A criminal is not going to follow the law.
Don't punish the law abiding citizen because of what criminals do.
Just enforce the laws we already have in place.

That's pretty much it. They will pick whichever of the 6 seems to fit best.

I pick “there is no gun problem in the US and the statistics prove that”. You’ve yet to dispute that.

Both are victims of crimes. In both cases the example I’m providing is blaming the victim. Why is it different?
Isn't it a legal requirement to keep a gun safely stored and secure.
If so, he's both a victim of a crime and the perpetrator of a crime.
If not, it certainly should be.

In some countries it’s illegal for a woman to have her hair uncovered. Obviously we could make similar laws ourselves.

What’s the moral difference? Why is the victim of rape not to blame but the victim of theft is to blame?

Is this not exactly what you ought to be doing? You've been asked for examples several times now.

An old man with a peace symbol for an avatar is what's actually embarrassing. The hippie movement thankfully died 50 years ago.

I believe in America and I hope for Peace. Which one of those two things do you have a problem with?

And I'm far from old.

Because the law stated that he was required to keep this particular property safely stored and secured.
But what should be the obvious difference is the rape victim was assuming all of the risk, where the gun owner's behavior was increasing the risk to others.

I mean you would still be okay with the killing of any offspring that were to develop in her from this coupling so I can’t claim she’s the only victim.

But I also challenge the idea that there is a risk to others. If you leave your keys in your car, that’s a not a crime yet I could kill many with your car. If you don’t lock the door to your home, I could kill plenty with a kitchen knife.

Why specifically is being the victim of gun theft bad when being the victim of any other crime is not? There’s an implied guilt that you don’t seem to have for other victims

I dont believe theft and rape are the same level of crime.

And BTW, all I did was post a news article. Don't shoot the messenger.

So it’s bad to do things that may make you a victim of low level crime, but it’s okay to do things that may make you a victim of higher level crime?

Is that your final answer?
