Given Russia's mounting losses, increasing international military support of Ukraine, the rapidly declining morale of Russian military, and now the whole thing politically backfiring on him, do we think Putin will resort to some kind of WMD to try to turn it around all at once?

About the most complicated part in an appliance would be a Chinese knockoff of an 8-bit Intel 8051 microcontroller or a Microchip PIC. I don’t think that story has much credibility either.

I believe he could do it and would do it if the walls start closing in. If it comes to that we have to hope his generals and inner circle decide it's time to take him down.

I think he's hoping he can at least hold most territory he currently occupies and gradually transition those areas to using rubles and eventually be settled into comfortable patterns. He's probably also hoping we or the Ukrainians get tired.
I suspect he's been told about the consequences he'll face for dropping one tactical nuke.

There's the shelf life of military hardware - it's always changing just like cellphones and everything else these days; we might as well use some of it in a place like Ukraine than trash it.

It's true that what we've been doing with our military lately borders on criminal. But you might also ask if you don't fight do you know how to fight. The other part is that we keep showing that we don't always have the right hardware for the current battlefield. Who knows that might be less a problem if we focused on the big picture and didn't get sidetracked in places we didn't belong. There's some sense in going after terrorists where they train, but it's always seemed like we should be reinforcing our borders so we know more about who is here and what they've got to work with. Seems like that would have been a better 9/11 preventive measure overall than to think you can prevent terrorism by terrorizing terrorist training camps.

I see what you are saying. Our military has 20 continuous years now learning how to fight as well as how well our weapons perform. But obviously not against „modern“ mechanized opponent with coordinated airpower and an artillery capability. So I think you make a very valid point.

The Moskva sunk because of a combination of weather and irresponsible smokers on board according to you dopes. In reality, the Ukrainians put a couple new holes in it and sent those on board on a one way trip under the sea. The Russians are duct taping gps from kmart to their aircraft. Let that sink in 😂
Must suck for you to know the Russian military has been exposed as a complete embarrassment!
